Folk tale???

I would like to know the name of the story where the poor married couple wants to give each other a gift so the wife sells her hair to buy a chain for her husbands pocket watch and he sells his watch to buy a comb for her hair. I saw it in a movie and heard about it as a Japanise folk tale but don't know what it is called.

.............It is not a folk tale..............It is a very famous short story written by O.Henry..........And the name of it is the Gift of Magi.........

Yes it is by O Henry who wrote some of his work while in jail. It is one of my absolutely
favorite stories.
