Hi,

I'm sure, at some stage in the dim and distant past, I've read a book which told the lives of two children with cerebral palsy about a century apart (one end of C20th, one end of C19th), and implicitly compared them. Central to the 'modern' bit was a computer game (text adventure stylee) in which the first question is along the lines of, "Your newborn is diagnosed with CP. Do you a) keep the child, b) give it up to care?" and the 'correct answer' (that allows you to proceed with the game) is "Don't know".

Does this sound famiiar to anyone, or have I made it up? Anyone give me a title? I thought the word 'Sophie' was involved somewhere, but I can't find anything on Amazon...

Cheers,

Nick

I have no idea, I only know that there is a book called Sophie's World that is supposed to be kinda philosphical but I've never read it and it's probably not what you describe, just I thought I'd mention it incase the Sophie bit is important... but this probably doesn't help you.

Ill help you look if you like but I have a gfew questions:
a) was it a fiction or nonfiction
b) about how modern would you say it was?

Sophie's world is an interesting introduction to philosophy, disguised as a children's adventure story (or vice-versa - it's hard to be sure). It's by the Norwegian author, Jostein Gaarder and is recommended reading for anybody wanting a quick introduction to philosophy (or a damn good children's adventure story). It's certainly not the book you describe though.
