Would like to know your new year resolutions...:D
doesn't have to be a list...even one resolution would do!

Logos,
did i miss out at sometime. are you a girl or boy. please tell me, it matters when I am trying to talk to you.
i never make New Year's resolutions, New Years means nothing to me. I just try to do better in the areas that need change each day. boring but it seems to work slowly at any rate, one day at a time.

I will try my best to get more than 90% marks in Maths.

I will do my best to get good grades in every subject.

I will try to give a little time to my computer.

got this on a jokes site!

New Years Resolutions

1. Gain weight. At least 30 pounds.
2. Stop exercising. Waste of time.

3. Read less. Makes you think.

4. Watch more TV. You've been missing some good stuff.

5. Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow.

6. Stop bringing lunch from home: Eat out more.

7. Get in a whole NEW rut!

8. Spend your summer vacation in Cyberspace.

9. Don't eat cloned meat.

10. Create loose ends.

11. Get more toys.

12. Get further in debt.

13. Don't believe politicians.

14. Break at least one traffic law.

15. Avoid airplanes that spontaneously drop 1000 feet.

16. Don't swim with piranhas or sharks.

17. Associate with even worse business clients.

18. Spread out priorities beyond ability to keep track of them.

19. Wait around for opportunity.

20. Focus on the faults of others.

21. Mope about faults.

22. Never make New Year's resolutions again.

5. Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow. haha! This one could be my motto.

13. Don't believe politicians. I don't see how this one is a joke. :D

I don't make resolutions because I find that the only thing that motivates me is spontaneity-as-a-form-of-procrastination. If I have something I absolutely must be doing, I am ten times less likely to do it than if I had no reason to be doing it at all. If I think, "I really should be reading right now," I might bake a cake and clean the house and go out with friends. But if I think, "I really need to clean the house today," I'll sit around all day just reading. The only sure-fire way to make myself not do something is to tell myself I must get it done. Resolutions are counter-productive.

My resolution would be to eat healthier - I feel so much better when I do, I don't know why I don't do it more often.

My new years resolution is to pay off my student debt within the year.
I once read that nearly 30% of student loans in the U.S. are never paid off. Some of those people are doctors, lawyers, business executives who make lots of money.

Perfectly for me. I vowed never to make any more resolutions. Promises to oneself are too easy to break.

I however dont owe very much (10G), The way I figure it I should be able to pay around $850 a month if I live like a hermit for a while.

Mine can simply be boiled down to "Stop Thinking; Start Doing" - I'm sick of merely wishing and wanting to try/do things, it's making me feel useless, worthless and bored with my life. It's not even about anything big, for example one of the things is to get through my reading list.

As there are people on this forum from all over the world i thought i'd take the opportunity to further my general knowledge. traditionally here in the uk many people make new years resolutions where the try to do or not do something to improve their life in some way i.e. diet, drink less, exercise more etc. how many other cultures do this?

F.Y.I. i haven't smoked sine the 2nd of jan...it's tough but smoking is neither big nor clever kids

I joined a gym that is openining in my neighborhood and I'm going to exceercise at least three times a week. They will have a pool and I want to swim at least once a week. I need to lose 15 pounds at least. I can't wait to start. It's to open in mid January.

Lose 30 lbs. From your photoalbum picture, you didn't seem to have 30 lbs to lose. Are you sure?

um, resolutions......

* Improve artistically: I've always felt I suck as an artist. And since most artists are always down I have decided I'd be a happy artist, (yeah right.) Now I need to improve on my happy disposition (which is non-existent)
* Exercise more: I'd be helping my mum stay fit too, and I'm a runner. I think I'll try out for track, I love to run.
* Stop making people doubt their beliefs: I've turned 5 JWs into Atheists. FIVE! :bawling: If only they didn't knock on my door....
*Work on the sewing: My mother wants to start making wedding dress we can sell. And she's promised to teach me how to sew too, so I'll be working on that and when I get good enough I'll sell my stuff and make money for the family.
*Be more punk: my punk-ness is really flat since I've moved. I need to work on the political activism and the Bakiryu-y smirk.
*Design: I need to design more things for us to sew. and learn how to sew. I've stabbed myself with pins so many times! And in the most random of places, my arms and legs are like a drug addict's!
*Study. All in the name of me becoming a journalist/feminist activist who will work to end all oppresion of women and unify all religions.

Dori
12-09-2007, 08:43 PM
*Read the Bible: I have yet to read the Bible. I stand undecided in my beliefs, but I've been interested for a while in the Bible.

*Lose 5 lbs: This is purely for athletic (and safety) purposes. I pole vault in the spring and my pole only supports 150 lbs. Currently, I weigh ~151 lbs. This resolution will be completely attainable within the first two weeks of track. All I have to do is maintain it...

*Read more: I currently only read 10-50 pages on an average day. Then again, school work has got me swamped.

Yes, I've been doing it for almost 4 years now. My personal record is 9'6" (attained in practice, of course). I have two years left to beat the school record of 13'11". If you know how to do it, it really isn't that scary. Besides, unless you're flung backwards, the mats will catch you.

Stop being so depressed/cynical/pessimistic/generally negative about things. Write on LitNet more often. Read a lot. Stop being so bloody nasty - I'm astounded, looking through some of my old posts, at how unkind I can seem sometimes in my writing. People must certainly be forming the wrong idea...
