Dude, pick it up first thing in the morning.

If anything, I'd say it's actually better than the earlier books. Jon, Arya, Tyrion and Bran were my favorite characters and I went into the book thinking there's no way in hell I was going to enjoy it as much as the earlier ones but it suckered me in instantly and proved excellent well beyond expectations.

There are some pacing issues which piss off certain people. We spend a lot of time exploring various previously unexplored areas of Westeros and there are a few plotlines which, presently, seem to contribute very little to the advancement of the actual plot. (though how some people extrapolate that they'll be ultimately meaningless in the long run is beyond my comprehension) The Westrosi society and culture are greatly expanded and there's a slight change of focus from the exploits of the nobility towards the woes of the common man via the POV of a certain character(s).

On the other hand, there are some truly staggering plot shifts and some very important bits about the eventual conflict are revealed. As the title hints, the focus is mainly on the feast for crows being administered by the Lannisters, picking up the pieces in the aftermath of the conflict between the five kings. New alliances are brewing and certain power-shifts are becoming apparant. The north is stirring, the midlands are in veritable ruin whilst Dorne and Iron Isles flex their muscles and start playing a more active role.

It's the best book I read last year; (out of total of more than 100) a worthy sequel to the previous books.

I think any criticism that revolevs around the fact that it isn't as good as A Storm of Swords is true, however, I also think A Storm of Swords is probably one of the best examples of epic fantasy one can find.

That said,if somebody is a fan of epic fantasy, there isn't enough quality options in the market to not buy A Feast for Crows immiediately. Our introduction to Dorne offers revelations in them are absolutely essential to read! The up front view of Cersei''s psychology, the rise of the faith, Oldtown, Arya's training, and more makes for damn good reading, and Martin keeps showing how subtle his narratives are, giving us even more to ponder! Truthfuly, the Brienne chapters threatened to bore me to death but this is a must by for fans of Martin. After reading A Storm of Swords, I can't see how anyone could wait!

More possibilities and undoubtebly, more classic Martin Red Herrings for us!
