What do you think? the 2 min.'s of hate is how we came together for the war and thats how they get the people riled up in the book. BUT people do have there own minds and own personalitys :lol:. any ways why would Big brother remove some of the words from the dictonary? well because they are removing the feelings of the people makeing it so they can't think for themself. what do you think :confused:???? do you believe in power by limitation of the people?? well we wouldn't Know because we are some what free from that. we have limits in our speek but not the press. we have limits on our impact on our government do to the electorial collage. what happens to the votes of the people??? :confused: can you tell me??? im confused :confused: ??? well have a great day!!!!! :nod:

I think that the purpose of the book was to make us ask this question exactly ... I would love to talk long-windedly about it but I'd get far too political. Alas. Nevertheless, Teacher, I am a student who says that it is not both, but all. Including the year it was written (can't remember when, 1930s???). Such brillient foresight was deffinitely inspired by the evolving society that Orwell lived in.

I agree. Orwell had no way of predicting the future. he simply reversed the digits. I do believe though that it would be more appropriate for the book to be called 2005. Since Orwell was warning us (again like he did in Animal Farm) he made it futuristic. As humans, we can't change in 36 years without someone stepping up and speaking out. People would remember the times of democracy, unlike the people in 1984.
