Greetings to all, I`m brand new ,here.

I feel a bit out of place after lurking and reading a bit. I`m a 77 year old retired electrician, US Navy veteran and have loved reading since I grew up on a Iowa farm back in the `40`s. There was a shelf full of books upstairs, Pilgrims Progress, The Deer Slayer, etc. all to deep for my tender years, but with nothing else to read, I did my best to absorb what I could.
My Dad used to recite poems from memory and I remember one especially that I`ve been trying to find since I got introduced to computers.`Twas about California and the prohibition years.I remember a few lines and I`m not sure what part of the forums I should go to, and start a thread to see if anyone ever heard of it! A point in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dick

Hi Dick, great to have you here :)

I hope you will stick around and not feel so out of place, most newbies do feel that way at first.

If you go to the Poems, Poets and Poetry section and start a topic asking about that poem, I'm sure someone will suggest something. Sorry I can't think of any that it might be right now.

Nice to meet you, Scout. I'm sorry that poem doesn't ring a bell. You might try to do a search in Google or Yahoo. Hope you enjoy the forum.

Thaks for the reply, Virgil,
I opened a thread in the poems and poets section, with what lines I remember. I`ve been at this search for this poem a long time, tried google and many other sites I could imagine. I did pick up several good poems in my journeys!
