Possibly the greatest (and certainly the most controversial) author practising his craft in the world today - Why is Rushdie absent from the authors forum? - Do you need to be dead to get a section? - If so, why is "anonymous" in there? He's still churninig out erotic thrillers as far as I am aware - Can Anna Sewell really be of more interest to those of a literary bent than the Booker of Bookers winner?
Come on Lit Net, correct this injustice!

It's not an `injustice', he's not here basically because he's not dead yet and his works aren't legally in the public domain (http://www.pdinfo.com/copyrt.htm).

I was asking about a section in the forum - surely an author doesn't need to be dead and in the public domain in order for interested parties to discuss them?
Also - there are a number of authors who's work is most definitely NOT public domain that have forums - Agatha Christie, Somerset Maugham, George Orwell - for example - they may be dead but I think their estate holders would dispute any claims of public ownership of their works!
Other notable omissions include Steinbeck, Camus, Beckett - all Nobel Laureates - all with a huge legacy to world literature - all dead (the first 2 died prior to Agatha Christie, in fact).
I'm not criticising the site - It's great to have a place to discuss literature and on the whole it's very well set up - I just feel that there is scope for a massive enlargement of the author-specific sub-forums.
And, being selfish, I'd like them to start with my favourite author, to whit, Salman Rushdie. But I have a llllllloooooooooonnnnnnnnggggggg list after that. ;)

Well, you can always start a topic about the guy :)
Edited to add: there is a lot of work involved in adding a new author to the site, don't worry, it is in the plans to add more.

Author death isn't always relevant, date of first publication and country are what matters as far as copyright goes.
But like Logos said, you can always start a topic in General Literature.
