I strongly belive that Winston and his lady friend had a ''RELATIONSHIP'' just so they can be rebellious against big brother.I think he finds it a relief that she has had many''RELATIONS'' before. That gives him the hint that she is rebelious against big brother. What do you think

I think you're right. The lure of "forbidden fruit" played a big role in their relationship. The same is true in modern society -- premarital sex, inter-racial relationships, affairs among married people, "gold diggers" climbing social/economic barriers, etc.

Yeah, I'll definitely agree that Winston and Julia were mainly having their affair to rebel against the party; although Winston was more the rebel against the party. I love what he says to Julia: "You're only a rebel from the waist downwards." HAAAAAAAAAAA

Winston and Julia definetly wanted to do what they were doing to rebel against Big Brother. They were doing exactly what Big Brother frowns upon. Winston even says he likes that Julia is experienced because clean women of the Party are loyal Big Brother followers.

I think Winston and the girl just date to make Big Brother mad and to go against Big Brother belife's on relationships.
