 Hello Comrades
I have just started reading 1984 in my English class and for an assignment this semester we have to post on this forum once a week.
So far I've really enjoyed this book and it amazes me to see how much of Orwell's prediction of the future are actually true.
One that I find very interesting is how the government is shorting up the language daily from Oldspeak to Newspeak and by 2050 they predict the language will be perfect or one would say the "lack of language." In a way this is happening daily. In this generation most people care less about spelling words correctly or taking time to write long letters to grandparents or family who might live far away. We like to take the easy way out and make things short, quick, and sweet to the point. Things like Instant Messager now has its own language and even with emails its the same. I bet you all many times will abbreviate words like lol, jk, ttyl, etc. when you're talking online. Yeah it is easy and people understand what your taking about so why not?
It seems that our language and the way we use are words has changed drastically but not in a good way
In the novel that Orwell is trying to ring the bell in our minds that language is important and that you should grow in it daily.
Reposed with what you think if you want.
Untill next week
