in the book, winston keeps a journal. what i dont understand is wouldn't the telescreen get suspecious of him constantly going into the corner?? why doesnt big brother send the thought police to investigate?

They eventually did. It's been a while since I read it, but I think the implication was that for several reasons, and yours may be one of them, the thought police got suspicious.

:p You have a very good point of view on the book so far. In the end, yes he does get caught. Yet without reading the entire novel, you can determine he gets caught. He always has the feeling he'll be caught. :nod:
