October 15th, 2003, marks the 5th Anniversary of the First Electronic Novel from Asia , the saadhu testament, by daya dissanayake.

The website http://www.saadhu.com where the saadhu testament is available for free reading, was designed by Raditha Dissanayake, and also contains information about Sri Lanka, Sigiriya and links to many other useful and interesting sites, and is visited daily by peple from all over the world.

kat bitha, the first book by daya dissanayake, received the State Literary Award for the Best English Novel for 1998. kat bitha is based on Kasyapa's Sigiriya of the 5th century seen through the eyes of a young Buddhist monk of the 10th century.

The third novel, the healer & the drug pusher, was published in 2000, by iUniverse.com, and happens to be the First Novel to be published using Print-on-Demand technology. Thanks for the information about the book. I will check it out. I am a little confused, are all three of her books only published on the internet? Or are there hard copy print editions? The idea of an e-book is pretty cool. How do you get published? Do you have to go through the same process you would to get published in print? Just curious. Thanks.

now all three books are on-line. the saadhu testament is free. 'kat bitha' and 'the healer & the drug pusher' is for US$ 1.49 each. Printed edition of 'kat bitha' was published in Sri Lanka and is out of print. 'The healer & the drug pusher' printed version is available from www.iuniverse.com

there are publishers who accept books for online publication, or you can develop your own website, like i have done.
