...
Still

You vex me
Then you left me
And a riptide pulled me out
to an ocean of laughing tears

I knew, knew too well
Yet, I never knew...

thanks for the poem, Jon. It reflects a place where i was at 1:32 a.m. and, i admit it -- I'm a sucker for anything with the word "vex" -- I vex and am vexed, so it resonates with me. Happy Un-Vexed New Year!

Hi Elise, LOL re: your being vexed! It's been a while since I've visited this site --- thanks for the positive feedback on my poem. I was happy to hear you were able to identify with it on some immediate level of experience. Unfortunately, I think I'm having quite a "vexed" New Year, so far! :-) Take care! Jon

Lovely poem! I am also having a somewhat vexed New Year! But everything will turn out fine! We still have many days ahead of us, yes? ^_^

I agree with cha on that one --- I mean, it's only February and I'm whining! Thanks for reading my poem Fontainhas...it's very difficult these days to get anyone to read one's work, or my work, anyway! :-) "Carry on Wayne" "Carry on Garth!"

SLEEPYWITCH: Thanks for reading my poem and kind commentS. It's funny how those two lines you referred to came to me 'just like that' when I wrote it...unlike the rest of the poem, which I struggled with! The magic of poetry, right?! :-)

I wanted to respond to this poem last time. I read it again. This poem takes my breath away...simply elegant.
