View Full Version : Tell us the color of your eyes...

I had a casual talk with my friend on how eyes are the first thing you notice in a person...the mirror of the soul...this gave me an idea...a new thread with this title..
just tell us the color of your eyes....
and u could add anything more you want to say about the eyes...
just to start...my eyes are black ...and the most attractive "feature" in me...

Green!
No, wait, there's bit of blueish in there..
Grey?
Multicoloured?
White?
Nah, that 's the part that's supposed to be white.
So it's isn't blcak either, for We guess, pupil colour doesn't count.
Let's just say grey-green.

Demon red, with lines like a road map. A yellowish hue around the edges of the eyeball. Jaundice? The eyes are the soul of the liver.
No more looking in the mirror today. The face of a stranger stares back at me. Where's my special "medicine"?

My eye color changes, sometimes gray, sometimes green but mostly blue. My hubby says they change with my moods but I've not noticed if that's true.

I have blue greyish eyes that are somewhat tired of a long day of looking at boring lecturers telling me about the importance of statistical analysis in research. :yawnb:
Although often the eyes are the first thing I notice in a person, It happens that I see another bodypart first. This is usually the case when they have their backs turned toward me. I notice the eyes when they turn toward me.
BTW. Is it just me, or can it be super relaxing to look people in the eyes? Not everyone has that effect, sometimes they scare me, especially my own eyes sunday morning after a night out. :p

brown...from my mum, and my dad always used to say they looked like the color of "burnt sugar," which I suspect he only knows from the time we made a gingerbread house (he melted some sugar and then let it harden and we used it for the "glass" windows :santasmil )
sort of a blue/gray/green. they sometimes change color with my mood. I had a friend whose eyes changed easily. I saw her livid at someone once, and they were almost a white/blue! I've got that cool elvish dark rim to my pupils, which is the only thing I've liked about my appearance.

Ooh, Eva, I did that two years ago! I used crushed-up Lifesavers candy and made stained-glass windows, only you couldn't see them too well because there wasn't any light behind them.
Oh, right; eyes. Mine are blue. Definitely my best feature. I don't tend to notice other people's eyes right away, because it makes me nervous to look at them. I have to force myself to look other people directly in the eye, and then I can't think, so I have to look away slightly before I can talk to them.

Sort of a reddish brown color, but then when the light hits them a more goldenish brown color. I love eyes. At school I end up staring at random peoples eyes, yes I'm a freak. Eyes are my inspiration in many of my art works.

And as it's often said, you can't always get what you want, I'd rather have _just_ brown or green eyes, not these wishy-washy ones!

I have brown eyes, but around the pupil I have a grey circle line... I got that from my father... :D eyes are not my best feature but they surely are my powerful feature. with only one look I can make people feel comfortable, calm, very uncomfortable or scared. I love that about my look, because I don't have to talk my look will do everything for me... :D Some say I have a scary look... *giggles*

hum well I dont have special eyes just the colour of the mud or sediment at the bottom of a clear river not the grey kind the brown clear shiny brown. Too plae to be cows eyes.
:D
Dark brown... I like to think it's chocolate colour :D
I am happy with that...well I'd like them to be a bit darker maybe, if that's possible in nature ;) I often look at people's eyes, where they're definitely the first think I look at in a man I like :D
When I used to go to the UK I was shocked about how common blue eyes are there! Here blue is more rare, especially, I have noticed, among girls. Of course I know blue-eyed ones, but I've always noticed that most girls here seem to have brown eyes, while men tend to have more shades... Or maybe it's just by chance that this was how it was among people I knew when I was doing those observations...
Nice thread. In another forum I visit there was this same one, but with a poll. Some people even posted pics, though I dont know how to get a good close enough pic of my eyes without being blinded by the flash :D
And...did I see (speaking of eyes ;)) emily posting in this thread??? OMG emily, it's been ages!!!

Using Lifesavers seems like such a good idea! My dad didn't have a floor in the 'house' and he put a candle on the platter before we put the house on. I guess that could kind of be a little dangerous, although no one in my family is known for thinking of the consequences ahead of time! Thankfully, nothing happened. Still, I think I'll have to tell him about the Lifesavers for this year.

I have a green eye, and a green eye. If I wear a light blue shirt my eyes tend to take on a bluish tint, and a green shirt makes my green eyes greener. Green. Dark hair, green eyes....a winning combination......
The eyes are the first thing I ever look at in another person. In fact I've fallen in love because of another's eyes have been so compelling. I have no compunction about looking people directly in the eyes, but it tends to make people uncomfortable, the discomfort often explained to me as a sense of being 'seen', all barriers down, naked secrets in full view. I like that. .........
Blue-gray with a slight green rim around my pupil that few people notice, though my eyes often look in large proportion to my face. :eek2: :p

I love my eyes, my Boyfriend adores my eyes, very much :) They go 'glassy', marble-like when the light hits them at a certain angle, and they go all '3D' if you will, and a lighter blue; as an old aquaintence said with a shocked expression once - "Oh my God, your eyes are so blue!"

blackish-brown. really hard to tell the pupil from the iris, but not so dark as to rival black-black mascara. more like a moody, pondering tree. the eyelashes lilt but unless i paint them that's easy to forget. have rounded eyebrows, so i always look a tad surprised, and very young. none of that seems to fit one person, how strange! :D
*reminisces* odd, i used to be afraid to look into my ex's eyes, they're very compelling and beautiful. until one night i dreamt about doing so. then i was okay. but it took a while...

Amuse, this is really weird! I did the same thing while shaving once, but I didn't go quite deep enough to leave a scar. A long row of bandaids would've looked silly, so I think a used a strip of gauze to cover up the blood.
I also have a scar on my right eye. Actually I have an identical one on the left, but that's chicken-pox. When I was 7, my grandpa was showing me how strong a certain magnet was. He had me try to pull a screwdriver off of it. When I couldn't pull it up, I wound up pulling down, and the screwdriver slid off the bottom, came up and hit me right where my brow ends. He just kept it to showing me music after that.

Lol, yeah it's a lot of fun, you can always tell the confident girls from the shy girls. Shy girls often look away, but at that moment quickly steal another glance, while confident girls look longer, but don't steal a quick glance when they look away.
Funny faces always add another dimension to staring. But one should never stay on one person to long. So once the person looks away I look for another target.

Dark Lord,
you sound beautiful. Aimussage I thought your avatar(now I blush in embarrasment) was a sort of combination squid/snail creature with one eye looking at me.
And I believe you ARE a gentleman. There is an expression " have your say in your heart" which gives vent to one's feelings but doesn't trouble the waters or hurt anyone. Are you like that? And yes being very shy I look away and count like to ten and then maybe quickly look once more. But i try not to do that because usually the person is still looking and then how smug they feel. Smiling I ADMIRE your grit and guts. sigh I am nothing like that.

Hey now, don't get any strange ideas, it's not like I deliberately start staring at someone, but when eyes lock, I never turn away first. :D

Besides, aren't we all strangers when first we meet? The best way to get to know someone is starting a conversation you know.

My avatar is whatever you perceives it to be, that's the beauty of the thing. :D
I wish I was a gentleman though, but alas, I am but a young wretched man with to much time and to little to do. But I always try to be considerate about peoples feelings, never downright insulting, but that doesn't mean you can't have the occasional joke at someones expense. It keeps the mind agile.
And for your knowledge, up untill a few months ago I was extremely shy and could never look another in the eyes. At one time I realised I could never really know someone without looking them in the eyes, or some similar wise revelation sages like me have. :p
While difficult at first, I started to look into the eyes of people, not staring, mind you, but just the occasional glanse. Later on I became more confident, and started looking at the eyes when people speak, or just look in the eyes of random people I pass on the street. It is a real eyeopener. It's not easy, but it's just like anything else you try for a first time. Once you realize that there is in fact nothing to fear, and so much more to gain, it becomes easier and easier.
My advice is to practice with it, and when next someone starts staring at you, meet their gaze, and don't look away, even if it's hard. You might feel your heart beating afterwards, Heck, I still feel it at times, but you'll soon feel much better.

I'll try it. I remember trying to work on saying hullo to random people on the street because both Vernon and Kelowna are real tourist places in summer and we the people are encouraged to do so.
One evening when my family and I were visiting Kelowna and walking down a rather dark street around midnight, not far away from our hotel(we were on our way to attend a midnight movie festival) I saw a man and a woman and decided I would just take the plunge and say hullo and be pleasant.
"Hullo, good evening" I began and then as we passed the couple who were looking at me rather strangely I said ,because it was true , to the woman "I really like your hair."
I felt so proud of myself though scared but was puzzled by my family's dark stares and glares.
Finally my little girl, about eleven said " Do you realize you just said hullo to one of the Hell's Angels who just happened to be propositiong a girl."
I was greatly embarassed and offended too so I said with my last vestige of dignity "well so what they are people as well." The next day I heard in the news that indeed an army of Hell's Angels had come into the town and the mayor and his staff were very worried about the increase in organized crime.
So I will try and hopefully this time when some guy is staring at me on the bus and I have the guts to look intently back for a moment or so I don't find out he is descended from Jack the Ripper or someone.
Still if you are shy and did it I am sure I can as well. WEll.......here goes....

Funny story! I find it very pleasant when a stranger in passing says hello. You don't find it to often here in New York, but I do travel for work around the US and it's much more common than I would have thought many years ago. I occaissionaly do it myself now, especially when I take the dog for a walk.
As to Hell's Angels and Jack the Ripper, you ought to be more consious of who you're saying hello to and the locale and circumstances. Now there's the New Yorker in me coming out.

Just sharing with you guys
When I was little (not very little, would be 7 or 8 years old) I had the habbit to see in the eyes of people. Whenever I would have been passing road, I used to get the feeling that people were looking at me then I used to look back at them without blinking. Strange, isn't it?

for me i used to see people in eyes but not all of them are the same , i knew poeple whom they looked at my eyes when i don't and when i do they don't and i really noticed that in many  it is strange and i think looking at the eyes of someone has a kind of power specially people who don't know that much

Virgil,
I know you are right and if that is a kind rebuke I accept it. I am learning. Pensive you are too cute. Dark Lord I agree about the power thing , that is why it is hard for me.
But the love I have in my heart for people wants to come out in kind random greetings.
here's an even more embarrasing confession, but I was just out of high school. believe me when I tell you i have always been a very naive person, it is just who i am. not uneducated but I don't think dark things or expect evil from people in general or anything like that.
I had been a classmate of a girl no one really liked in grade twelve. her name was vicky and she always had a harlequin romance between the pages of lit or whatever. i ended up working alongside her as conference call operator and we became great friends. she confided in me that her father had abandoned her and several siblings, her mother had fallen into a bad place so she prostituted plus this job to keep them afloat.
i loved this girl. here she was in a tight dress with bosom showing, me at the time in my ultra conservative clothes. One day she said she desperately needed me to go with her to a 'doctor' so on my break(split shift) I went with her to a part of town i never dared go in before. we went into a wierd cement building and she left me sitting on a chair while she went in some room. I sat quietly then i smiled at different people and asked how they were doing. then my eyes wandered over to some posters and it was then in my stupidity that my virginal eyes took in the meaning. I jumped up and having a scarlet red face said to anyone who looked up" oh I am just here with my friend, I am perfectly allright." everyone nodded with a smirk and later i realized i had been visiting with several pimps as well as girls.
However it turned out well for me. Calgary has a lot of murders and after that when I wandered down the wrong part of town to save time or whatever those people remembered me, especially the girls and they were kind and protective to me.
I need to grow up, i am working on it Virgil. I love New York people. love them.

Virgil, you didn't take psychology did you?
Just a class, but it was not on what people would consider common place psychology, like Freud or Jung. I picked that up in liberal arts classes. The psyche class from what I remember was on how people observe things. What I called common place psyche--what the average person thinks is psychology--is all a crock, by the way. That's why they teach it in liberal arts classes.

No I'm not flirting. I think Tiresias is a male. And I'm not gay.
I don't know if you realized it, but the mythical Tiresias was one who shifted genders back and forth. I think it's in Ovid. T.S. Eliot has Tiresias appear in "The Waste Land". I'll quote, and the quote begins parenthitically:
(And I Tiresias have foresuffered all
Enacted on this same divan or bed;
I who have sat by Thebes below the wall
And walked among the lowest of the dead.)

There's a short poem in German (kindergarden-taught :)) about the coulour of eyes and love.
Blaue Augen: Himmelsstern,
Lieben und possieren gern.
Braue Augen: sind gefährlich,
Aber in der Liebe ehrlich
Grüne Augen: Froschnatur,
Von der Liebe keine Spur.
It would translate as follows:
Blue eyes: heaven's star
love to love and play around
Brown eyes: are dangerous
but honest when it comes to love
Green eyes: of frog's nature,
no trace of love.
Aw, so much wisdom! :D

Why do you say irregular? You were staring at a camera and your eyes converged to a center point.
I hope it was just that... LOL in some other pics I tried I was really squinting... ;D

There is a ring of gold surrounded inside and outside by grey. It used to bother me that I had peculiar eyes, but then I noticed that no one else having the same iris pattern (not even in large collections of photos of various patterns) added some sort of rareness to my eyes.

my eyes are moderately weird... the bottom third is bluish-grey with little white thingies.. like zig zag stripes or something, the upper two-thirds are mainly dark green with a big golden 'star' on top of the green (like lilttle rays coming out of the pupil) and another smaller brown star on top of all that....
the overall impression they give is one of brownishness, which annoys me unspeakably :rage:
but people seem to like it, so what the heck
my eyes don't change with my moods, but they do look pure dark green once in a while either when the sun is shining behind my back or hitting me full in the face (see, there's no systematicity to it whatsoever)

Bah--Virgil's flattering abilities are impressive, but rusty after years of marriage. One must both BE sincere (which Virgil is) and establish UNDENIABLE sincerity (which Virgil needs work on ;)). Genuine, Virgil is (at least, he should be), but he has the tendency to sound a bit like a lounge lizard upon occasion :p.

nah, there's nothing witchy about it :) lots of blue-eyed people have little white thingies.. you can only see them from close-up.. since my eyes have just a tiny bit of greyish-blue you have to look very hard for the white thingies...
i never knew my eyes were part bluish until I lived in England for a year... er, it's because we had a huge mirror in our bathroom there and the room was very well-lit. i used to think they were mainly brown but in terms of percentages they are mainly green and gold, but somehow what you see from a distance is only the brownish elements :yawnb:
heheh, thanks for your compliment

I wasn't trying to woo her. I didn't want her to get the impression I was making fun of her.
BTW, you made me remember that a long time ago, shortly after meeting the girl who would eventually be my wife, I did tell her how pretty her eyes were. Although I was sincere, I guess you could see it as a "lounge lizard" line.

My eyes are boring so I change them with blue, green, hazel, or red contacts. I like hazel the most because they blend with my natural eye color and just enhance the look. :)

It seems to turn into a fashion tread now. I'll just chime in and mention that all colours look good on me, however red, pink, green and black look especially good on me.
The only problem with white is that it never seems to stay white for long with me, even though I have some great white shirts, they have to be washed after wearing them for a day or so.

I almost always wear khakis (usually in the form of cargo pants [I love pockets] or my trenchcoat), but I also usually wear white, white-marbled-with-grey, or navy. I love navy--makes me feel naval.
Alas, there is nothing Lincoln green in my wardrobe--ironic, no?
