interesting musketeers ??

for those who have read the three musketeers.... what the most interesting part or scene in the story?

Anyway, my most interesting moments
When Milady corrupts the guard to kill Buckingham, and Buckingham calls over his servant and tells him to give anne of austria the dagger, and tell her 'he loves her' *sniff*
When they decapitate milady D D That was a really well described scene.
When they're chasing down Milady and she kills the woman who d'Artagnon was in love with.
Well, I really found the whole book really interesting and exciting. It remains one of my fave books, and is what got me into literature and this forum in the first place.

Milady in 'prison'. Dumas is a master of intrigue - Milady's scheming made my head spin. Lovely.

My copy of The Three Musketeers is a Penguin publication, with translation and introductin by Lord Sudley - but no notes. Does anyone have the OUP print and is the annotated version interesting?
I'm a sucker for notes in a period novel and I quite missed them in this one. I'm tempted to buy the annotated version... Does it provide a lot of juicy insights?

notes in a period novel really ruin it for me. i have a vendetta against oxford world classics because once they put a spoiler in the footnotes. the thing about those asterisks is u feel like ur really missing out by not reading them too.

I love footnotes. After finishing the novel I always feel rather grief-stricken, so they are a comfort; something to look forward to. A bit like a postprandial brandy or that mint with one's coffee. (Mmmm, chocolate...)

I must agree that Milady in prison was a fantastic scene. Some of my other favorite scenes include d'Artagnan joining forces with the three musketeers (who he was to duel) again the Cardinals guards and when Athos reveals his secret. Anyone who enjoyed the Three Musketeers should read the rest of the books in the series. Each one is fantastic.

My fave scene is probably either when Milady kills Constance, or the execution of Milady, but there are so many great scenes in the book that it's hard to choose!!
