ok, so i said it'd be my last post, and yet i find myself back here..typing. whilst my chem book sits closed and lonely.. and i have that blink 182 song stuck in my head, what's my age again? (what's my age again.. where's my asian friend, do do doo, do do doo..) so i decided to set up a little demographic profile of the board and i'll see the results two mths and a half from now.. besides, i have this long line of my name going right down 'general chat' and i really want to dominate this board b4 i leave. cry (megalomaniac tendencies) cry
on a separate note, who here apart from me's of asian descent? u don't have to answer that, i just have those lyrics stuck in my head ( r those even the right lyrics?) actually, asking that question makes me sound like some kind of black haired brown eyed nazi. i think i'll dye my hair brown.
on another separate note, did anyone ever see that seinfeld episode where jerry's telling george about the composer who went crazy after a song got stuck in his head? (the episode where they meet elaine's dad) i think it was schumann. do u think that's true? i've actually never come across a piece by schumann i didn't like. roll

That's right! Get outta here!
All jokes aside, you're fine here. I guess it was generalized that most people on the forum are students, who are usually less than 30. Welcome. 8)
I hear ya Annie... <sigh> :P All the kids around here, geeze, I'd start an `older' people forum with ya! :D

Yep, here I am just another senior citizen at 40!

I'm relieved to see the responses to this thread that appeared since I first looked at it--I thought I might be the only one older than the options listed on the poll. :D I guess for the next month and a half I can still fit in at 30 though! :D

I'm just a babe at 51!
Welcome Annie, good site to join btw lol. Nice to have all demographic groups in the forums. And I'm 19 if that helps with the poll Fayefaye (okay, what does that mean? Does it even have to mean anything I find myself wondering...)
I've got you all beat at 75.
Hey I voted with my official age in the poll, but mentally I'm 85 (beating you Abdo! :evil: ;))...Where do I vote that?

So who wants to be the firs cell that appeared on Earth? wink
That'd be me!! anyway, sorry about that. i actually did create an over 30 age block, but i thought it would immediately add the optiion when i clicked submit, but it turns out you have to add the option, then click add option and leave an extra space blank, something i didn't bother to do. (because i thought it would leave an extra useless space in the poll)
anyhoo, it's all settled now, so u old ppl can have a place to be. D (j/k. the reason i stopped at over 30 is because i'm sheer LAAAZZZY)

I guess I'm on the borderline of the poll-31. And Iwas convinced I'd be the most ancient citizen around here. Seriously, leaving aside mental ages, am I?

mentally, i'm in my late seventies. very tired, old and cynical, though not very wise. physically, i'm still sixteen. oops does that make me really young here? when i originally joined as alias i was 15. oops don't discriminate for my being young though. i spose i've always been ahead of my time. wink seeing as how all of you seem so much older and wiser than i, would you mind fielding some questions on life? experiences and what not? like, do you think life gets better with age? i do. it's easier; you get a bigger say in what goes on... or so it seems. what's your most embarrasing moment? what's your happiest? saddest? anything to say bout life? oh, and advice. not the trite repeated a million times advice, but stuff actually from your life? mine; Don't trust anyone over 30! Just kidding. wink
Really though? live true to yourself and your beliefs. don't try to be what everyone else wants you to be, even if you were perfect it wouldn't be good enough. uhh.. don't get too caught up in trivial things about life. all the little things that can get you down, but which don't really matter. that's it for now. maybe i'll dig thru my memory later and see what's on offer.

Really sensible, fayefaye, that was my sworn credo10 years ago! Now? Don't trust anyone over 40! ;)
don't try to be what everyone else wants you to be, even if you were perfect it wouldn't be good enough.
That's quite wise, maybe I should keep it in mind cos too often lately I feel I shouldn't be like I am, but.. that's what I am, and I've said it all.
As for the rest, fayfaye are you my lost little sister??? Old and cynical yeah that's me 8)
Do I think life goes better with age? No, that's another of those uselessly positive things they want you to believe. I've had a very happy childhood, cos I wasn't aware of many things of life. Sorry if someone out there might think I'm flooding the forum with depression, I just have a very dark philosphy on life.
Happiest moment? I've had happy moments, I can't decide which one to choose. Saddest moment? I've had many, wouldn't know which one is the worse but I guess it's year 1999 (yeah more or less the whole of it, mainly from April to August tho) when as I said somewhere else my best friend decided to throw me away like an used tissue, which added to a (neverending) teenage-sadness of mine and made it really hard. And now why am I telling all this? :oops: You guys have a bad effect on me, it's to easy to make such a talkative person as me rant out the whole story of her life. ;)

SUCH my lost sister. you are my new internet-best friend. (and i won't throw u away like snot) I know exactly how you feel. I flood this forum with depression because it's the place I've started to come to if I'm feeling down, or stressed or bored. Usually a bit of all. Don't feel bad. Ppl come and cheer u up. that's what makes it so great. unfortunately, most of my posts don't make that much sense because my communication skills are atrocious when I'm in a bad mood. ( Oh, life does get better with age though. definately. As a child I was pretty quiet and introverted; more aware of things than most adults. I've ranted about a frightening amount of my life, koa. don't worry about it. though sometimes i think i write about waayy to much personal stuff here. oops

I'm hanging out right now in hope for a better life as I get older. The prospect of university keeps me chugging away, and the literature I read provides the inspiration (as well as a great deal of other things). I hope you are mistaken, Koa, or lying, or that we will end up to differ on this view - because hope for life beyond high school and adolescence is a large source of contentment for me.
Well Munro, that's what people hope for... I used to love the idea of going to Uni etc, but it just gave me different problems (ok that was me, because of a bad choice etc). I just wish for you it gets better.

my sentiment EXACTLY munro. if it wasn't for the idea of uni, i'd hardly be surviving right now. I always look forward to the future. It is the way to deal with a crappy present.

Since I´m so very old I will now dispense my advice and the summary of all I have learnt ;) You asked for it .
Bad things are not someting that happens to Other People.
They will happen to you. They will happen to the ones you love.
It will hurt. You will make it.
On this forum I have read people describing their thoughts. Letting at least some of the hurt out. I think there might be alot more, that never finds words. But still, you make it. There is so much strength in a human being. There is so much strength in you. All of you. First to survive, and then to live.
Personally I think that life gets better. Good things happen too. Sometimes by chance. Sometimes by the help of others. Most of it you create. All your work now, all your hard studies are you creating better things for yourself. I think that people are usually bad at seeing all the things they actually do. ( At least the things we do that are good. The bad ones we are usually very aware off. Sometimes so aware that we find faults that doesn´t exist. )
And now to an advice from somebody else than me, that influenced me and my thoughts on life:
The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
And let it spring from love
Born out of concern for all beings.
(Buddha)
