Welcome to the Member of The Year Competition!!!!

The nomination rules are as follows:

• Three (3) nominations from each member
• A reason stating why you chose this member
• No specific criteria for nomination but a few suggestions to base your nomination could be wittiness, personanlity, post-count, avatars and general contribution to the forum.

Self-nomination is welcome, but again a reason for it is required (out comes the modesty!!)

You can change your nomination anytime before the closing date, but be sure to clearly state who your final three (3) are.

Opening date: 10th November 2005
Closing date: 30th November 2005

After this, a Poll will be made with the top ten (10) nominees. Voting in this thread will commence on the 1st of December, and finish on the 30th of December, with a target date of the 1st of January 2006 for announcement of the winner!!

I nominate:

Jay - She's been here with me since joining and I have never heard her say an unkind word. Though I never like having to leave the forums, it is because of her that I most deeply regret my departures and am anxious to come back. She was even thoughtful enough to snail-mail me some gifts including an anniversary card which she translated when Leo and I celebrated our first year of marriage. I always fear that I'm never as good a friend as she deserves, but she remains an accepting caring person.

After Jay it's difficult to choose, as I've been away. Can I make my other nominations later?

Its very difficult for me to choose one. I thought we had to vote for atleast 5.

My first three nominations are:

Jay: I will nominate her because of her witty and lively posts. She is really a kind of person who does not make anyone feel bored.

Scherzade: I will nominate her because of her nice threads and Boof forum club. Her posts are interesting as well.

Subteranean: I will nominate her because of her this idea. It is really fun. She comes up with interesting ideas. *thumbs up*

Well, in addition to these three, I will love to thank some very special members for making literature-forum an enjoyable place. These are:

Nightshade: Her posts often makes me smile.

Kaltrina: She is such a nice person.

jakobin: A very good addition to the forum.

I hate having to choose just three! There are at least a dozen people here whom I really enjoy.

Anyway, here's my very difficult-to-choose picks...

Pendragon because he is so smart, nice, and riddling.

Rachel because she is so insightful and kind .

Nightshade because she is fun and did such a great job organizing the "Sleepyhollow" reading and discussion.

(As you can see, I edited this and changed a couple of my candidates. My first candidates were very worthy of nomination, but others had nominated the same ones and I wanted to pick people who deserved mention but had not yet been chosen.)

Shea: she was one of the first who welcomed me when I first Joined!
Jay: She is cool, smart, funny, and likes Stargate SG1!
Fool on the hill: one bad dude, he was here in the beggining, and was a worthy opponent (better then me even) in the game of chess!

I'm still thinking as to who i should vote for. All i can say at the moment is how about we keep this thread open for 'nominations' and for general comments about the comp like, "AAAH VOTE!!", maybe they could be in the original Member of The Year thread.

It has been brought up that other awards should be made aswell as just Member of The Year. What follows are the additional awards:

A difficult proposition indeed! In the case of my own preferences as to who just might rate such a lofty accolade, I see the impossible! I'm willing to give many kitkats as award to all who have participated in the miriad discussions available on this site. But to choose a favorite??....no, it is impossible.
I am truly amazed at the great young minds that visit here. Their philosophical stances, their insights, their struggles with the issues of becoming the person who later in life they will be, the constant revealing and bravery of personal truths, and the incredible level of acceptance of others that new generations of youth excel at, indeed elevate all of mankind with. How do you choose the best Picasso, the best Kant, the best Umberto Eco??? I am humbled by the presence here of so much greatness, and shall limit my three choices to three deep bows offering honour to all........

Baddad, looks like if you were nominating anyone your nomination would be Mono who definitely deserves it, but you do have a very valid point. Everyone nominated deserves it and for many different reasons and many others that haven't been nominated probably deserve it as well. This site is truly full of inteligent and good spirited people and it is hard to just pick three who stand out which is why I think that's one reason having categories is a good idea. Lessens the burden of elimination to some extent I think. :)

My first vote would go for Pendragon. i think that this will come down to who gets nominated. it comes down to your own opinion of who qualifies as new.

i would consider myself a newbie, cos the month i joined is the same as the current month. but it comes down to peoples discretion.

Alright, well, my other two nominations are Sher, organizing and maintaining the Book Club. I'm very grateful to be a part of that because I've missed discussing recently read books since I've graduated. And Admin for creating such a great site in the first place where one can feel quite safe.
