There are so many new names here, I'm anxious to jump back in the swing of things and get to know all of you.

The reason for my disappearance is that I've just finished my degree in English Lit and then went straight off to England to study at Cambridge for a couple of weeks and then tour for another two. Can't wait to go back, but never by myself again (I was too homesick for my husband). As soon as I got back, I had to get my stuff together to apply for teaching posititions, but of course the semester had already started so there is not really anything open at the moment. So now I'm just working as much as I can at my old job to help offset the cost of that trip!

Anyway, I have to go to work now, but I have tomorrow off and would like to get reading and posting here again. I'll probably post my picture in that thread too. It was really great seeing what some of you look like after all this time!

A Florida gal studying English lit at Cambridge? Very impressive.

(I lived in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale when I was a newspaper reporter.)

It was a summer school program through my school (University of South Florida). It was an excellent experience that I'm glad I didn't pass up! I took a class on Tudor England, and the professor was like a walking encyclopedia.

I was born and raised in Tampa. Only went to West Palm once on a shopping whim when I got an unexpected bonus. Shopping there was financially not unlike going to England!

What kind of reporting did you do?
