Yes, it's me again, this time hoping that someone will be familiar with the name Doris Lessing, and her book the Fifth Child, in which case i would very much like to discuss some of the finer points of her writing style...

Cheerio,

What do you think the most important aspect of Doris' writing is? We've speandt hours discussing the way she uses an "alternative" to everything she writes. "Is Ben crazy, or is it his upbringing?" etc.

Yes, Ben in the world, where i believe he comits suicide after his presumed familiarity of cavemen?

I read a short story Sunrise in the Veld by Doris Lessing. I can't say I enjoyed it because I read it for my homework. I couldn't really understand her style of writing, I can't even answers the questions that are being asked about the plot and the structure of the short story...

:( Harry potter is better

The only book I read from Dorris Lessing is the Fifth child, but I don't remember much of it... So I think I wasn't impressed :S

It's years since I read the fifth child. Hence, I'm not able to discuss the finer points, but I remember being captivated by the story. Especially, if I remember rightly, by the mother's torments. It's tragic and the theme always current. How do you cope with a problem child that threatens to destroy your life?

The Good Terrorist was very well written, although I think it fell in the typical mistake of literature of portraying terrorists as confused people who really don't know what they want to achieve with their terrorism. I think a novel that shows why people can be led to rationally become terrorists, with clear purposes, is very much needed in this world of fearmongering.

Oh, her memoir, On Cats, is one of the most moving texts I've ever read, but I'm a huge cat lover.
