I literally have an essay due today, and I have two problems. #1, I'm not sure if you're supposed to indent a quote if it goes over 4 lines (I know you're supposed to with a research paper but wasn't sure about it for an essay). #2, How do you give a quote of something that was not numbered on page. For example, I got a quote by John Milton off of a quote website which did not list a page number, for it was a spoken quote, how would I quote that? One of my teachers said "center the text, and put under the quote -Milton." But I wasn't sure if that was correct. Can someone please help me soon? If you don't respond by 12 o'clock it'll be too late so don't bother responding after that. Thanks.

It discusses the villainy and revenge of Roger Chillingworth, a character from The Scarlet Letter.

Center it and then give the full address of the web page

Thanks. But, just curious, why do you center it? And do you know what I should do about the quotes?

Yeah, but aren't famous quotes concsidered general knowledge? And as long as you say who the author is, you don't need to cite where you got it from? Like with your profile, you didn't cite where you got it from, right? you know?

famous quotes are only general knowledge because they are circulated with the authors name! Also it is only cosmetic indenting your wQuotations, no one os going to hang you for breaking an arbitary convention.
ps i can type at 60 mistakes a second!
