New Comers

I just logged in last Saturday and today I noticed that there are 14 new introduction threads :eek: ...Means that we actually have 14 threads to relpy with greetings and make them feel welcome...
And I think that more than half of them (even perhaps almost all of them) never really returned to the forum.
Just a thought.

Since B-Mental started the thread "8000th and ...." on 10/10/05, almost 1000 newcomers have joined in, some of them only looking for advices and other that have stayed and enjoying the forum.

That's what I have been thinking since the beginning of the introductions forum... most of them will never return, and I actually try and select to say high to those that seem to be more likely to return, and actually compliment those who say more than 'hi im new', like jakobin did (even if I see he got kinda schizophrenic now...;))... that's the attitude. I'm not going to raise my already embarassing post count by saying hi to any introduction...

That's one field (though surely not the only one) were I miss mono tho...he was impressive, he said hi to any single one...he was like the official newbies greeter... ;)
Well now only Logos is left in that position, but it's kinda his job isn't it? ;););)

Well, I do try to keep up with the newbies and be nice too :)

I do miss mono being such a warm welcomer too.

Well it's not anyone's `job' to make people feel welcome here. If you sincerely want to say hello to a newbie, then just do it. :)

I just don't think that newbies should be under threat to post more than once or they are/will be criticised or centred out for not doing so.

Like I said here or somewhere else there is nothing wrong with someone signing up and posting once, or not at all. There are a number of other reasons members are on this site besides participating in the fora.

I know some of you are just chiding and being silly but to a newbie seeing `sarcasm' they might not `get' it.

edited to add: I'm just saying this because it's been brought up a few times recently now. Somebody's got to stick up for the possibly shy newbies who are scared away by all you seasoned types! :lol:
