Please let me know what you think. This is a light and hopeful version of my plight.
My Castle
Courtyard sealed, drawbridge locked,
Sun high above, nature mocked,
Mote filled with doubt
Insecurity's clout
Lost and alone, no one knocked.
Expectations then, could climb no wall.
Welcomed or rejected, they stood not tall.
Wallowed with me
Fear's cold-hearted fee
Withering shoulders the weight of it all.
Struggling here, I see no escape.
If only I had super-strength or a cape,
Up and out I would fly
Or break through this stye
Then upon the clean morning I'd most surely gape.
But alas my exit is not paved in gold.
So if this is not where I wish to grow old,
I should kneel down and dig
Like a truffel-starved pig
To prove to myself that my lot's not been sold.
