You might use the searchable online version of "The Secret Agent" to find all mentions of anarchists and related words, then read those passages and see what is said.

I have not read this book yet, but if we see the time period when the novel was written (1907), we see that the ideas of anarchism was just began to develop. While the followers (the anarchist) critized the social conditions and problems, and how system/society at that time couldn't do anything to improve the conditions, they didn't seem to give significant contributions with their new ideas. Thus, it was an ironic thing cause they were only able spoke than act. So maybe, Conrad's secret agent has something to do with critiques to both sides (the anarchist and social system). I believe you have read the novel, so you'll know much better.

Maybe by analyzing the time frame of the novel and reading some writings about anarchism (and its history) , you could find the answer. And maybe next time, you could spare sometime to really dig it, instead of rushing up with deadlines..

Hi Mi Mi wilkommen, the attributes of anarchists in The Secret Agent shouldn't be too difficult for you if you HAVE read the book. Otherwise it's a tricky proposition. Vladimir, the Russian ,is an agent provocateur, The Professor, the American ,is just a terrorist,Ossipon, Yundt and Michaelis accommodate their principles to their material needs.I could go on as Conrad is a writer who interests me very much. Your deadline approaches and I hope that you get your presentation completed.But otherwise I am with Subterranean,next time read the text and have the darned thing ready to hand in by the due date. thank u allllllllllllll for helping me.to make things clear i didnt rush things, the problem is that there is no good sources to depend on here in KSA.i went to all the libraries but i didnt find any thing,and the worst is that the professor gave me the subject of my presentation 4days before the presentation day & ihad only read 4 chapters b\c i had alot of researches to do before the holiday
