Who in these Forums is interested in adventurous role-playing games? (with adventorous We mean non-sexual)
And what kind?
Do you like them?
Do you play them often or rarely?
Fellow ropelayers of the Lit Forums, unite! You have got nothing to lose but your dignity.
So, who of you are ropelayers?

Thank you for clarifying that ;)
I don't know how people can find the time to play such games they seem like they could take over your `real' life :)
Edited to add: sorry I guess I sound kinda negative about them I don't mean to be, just for me I think they would take over other things that's all..
I don't play, I'm not attracted to that kind of things, but I've always heard the critic that they can take over real life, and I wonder...in which way?
I guess the internet is enough to take over my real life... :( Even though I'm not imagining anything...

I played AD&D some time ago, when I was in high school, and sometimes I played the DM, when nobody else wanted to do it. Anyway, it had very little role-playing, as we never acted our characters or anything like that, we merely spoke the actions and threw the dices. It was fun in that time.

i have been playing a massive online rpg for just over a year now and for a little while i admit i allowed it to consume my life. the amount of time i played did become unhealthy and while i still play it now, and i honestly cant visualize myself not playing it, im carefully monitoring my productivity in life to ensure im not overplaying.
perhaps its just because i do tend towards an addictive personality, or perhaps because for a long time i found my real life deeply unsatisfying. whatever the reason, i see how easy it was to get wrapped up in rpg's.

I used to play AD&D, (actually started with D&D then the advanced games came out), when I was in early teens. Comp RPG's on computer and then web, but you can really lose track of time with these. I would say they are addictive, in that you interact in a manner like a mouse pushing a button to get another piece of cheese.

Freaky to know that you are interested in a hobby that can take over your real life and be addictive. (not to mention the occasional beliefs that role-plaing makes one more apt to loneliness, geekiness, escapism, devil-worship, suicide, murder, insanity, suicide-bombing, mass murder and apocalypsis)
About role-playing being addictive - well, if you don't look out, every hobby can be addictive (how many bookaholics are here?).
And role-playing doesn't take over people's real lives, as far as we have heard. They give one the possibility to act out situations in fantasy world that might come up in real world too. They also keep one's mind and emotions fresh and also give adrenaline.
About computer RPG s.
We were not very certain whether to put them there, since most of them, as we have heard, don't involve role-playing, but making one's character more powerful and suchlike.
But since they are called RPGs and since we have heard that there even are some that really put stress on role-playing, we put them in.

I' would agree on some games like 'Diablo II', but 'World of Warcraft' takes things to a new level for me. Definitely RPG! There was a database problem that corrupted files in a region of the world, and all sorts of characters were dying off, (they can ressurect). Some people would help afflicted players, and others would spread the disease. I read somewhere that some universities want to re-create this phenomenon to study the psychology and sociology of the persons/characters.
