It's been almost a year since you've been here
Yet the thought of you is still so dear
You would have loved those two lines
I would walk up and show them
And you would gently say
"You wrote this?"
And I would have said yes
Now you're gone
And I never officially said "goodbye"
I wish that I had
Just like everyone else did
I wish that I had gone to your funeral
I wish that I could just let go
But I can't do so
Back then when I was new,
You were the only one that I could talk to
Just come afterschool or during class
And say that my day was awful
You just said "Tell me about it" and I was alright
I never thought that you would leave this soon
Or that I couldn't talk to you again
I thought that time would go on
Until the end of our time together
Then I would make a card and thank you for all you've done
When you were gone
I had no one
The day before you went away
I wish that I could go back to that time
I would have said how much I admire you
And how I would never forget
I would at least have said "take care" or "be safe"
You were there to each us class
But in reality, you taught us more than that
All these lessons that help me get through
I learned them from you
I really miss you , you know
Even though you're gone
I know you're watching over me, all of us
