I'm 17 and I read this book three times in my life, once when I was 10, once when I was in eigth grade and once for ninth grade. One question has always plagued me about the book all these years. Did Old MAjor symbolized Marx or Lenin?

Not sure, I thought that ol maj represented Marx. I'll be back after a little more research.

Ok, there are plenty of threads if you click on Orwell and then Animal Farm. This isn't the first time this book has been studied. So feel free to learn what you can. Lots of those threads are very helpful. Good Luck.\\

Yeah Old Maj is Marx in a kind of "Ghost of Communism Yet to Come" / "I have a dream" way.

 I always thought that he was a bit of both really as he seems to have made up animalism yet there is no one before Snowball and Napolien (Trotsky and Stalin) :smash:

Ol Major is Marx. He comes up with the idea of the animal farm but it is implimented after his lifetime. This is just like Marx

he was actually both. marx and lenin were responsible for stirring up a revolution among the lower classes against capitalism.

Umm.. I was just looking through this because I need to know who Major represents. And no one in here really seems to know for sure as you are all fighting over it.
If any of you are 100% positive about if Major was Lenin or Marx, please tell me.
Thanks.
