Depending on which country you live in, yellowfeverlime, in the United States, you can copyright any kind of work here (http://www.copyright.gov/), the official government copyright website.
No free copyright laws exist to my knowledge in the U.S., but I cannot claim to know everything regarding copyright prices and terms of use.
