When I was maybe 7, I had an imaginary friend. He was a mighty black stallion named Raven, and he only ever drank Ribena :) I miss him :(

I had an imaginary horse friend after I read 'Black Beauty'... in the end, he left me because he wanted to be as free as the wind (sigh)... our friendship lasted one year (almost). Then I had an imaginary cat friend- she still excists somewhere in my mind... very wise feline :D

As silly as I feel to admit it, yes, I once had an imaginary friend, named Johnny, having him until about age 5. I imagined he stood roughly my height, similar looking to me, and had a similar name to my nickname at the time, which I will not disclose. :p
Now that I think of it, I have no idea what made me fade from the trend of having an imaginary friend. During and slightly after that time, my family and I moved a lot, switching my schools constantly, which probably has something to do with it.

I had three imaginary friends when I was a child, their names were Huxey, Seedy, and Pompo. Lord only knows where those names came from, but they would make great names if I were ever to write a story, huh? I'm not really sure at which age they went away or the reason.

I don't have any. But as a child I often talked to myself.

To all who once had imaginary friends, did those friends just vanish as you grow older?

I talk to myself a lot too, but people keep saying that I'm strange (can you belive it? )
Most of my imaginary friends didn't vanish away- they're still here and appear when I think really hard about them. If they do, it's usually because they move to another country or planet. :D

Papayahead- I like the name Huxey a lot

Mono- It's not silly to have imaginary friends

Well, nothing. It's just that when you wrote that they still come and go, I suddenly wondered about your age :). Well, I don't know whether this sort of thing has some connection with age..I mean are they just for children or maybe adults have imaginary friends also.

Why do you want to know? 16....why?

@ Sub- that's why?... okay then. Besides anyone can have imaginary friends wheter old or young :D
@ Nightshade- I talk to characters in books (sometimes)... I ask them for advice... I talk to everything actually :D (just noticed that)

Imaginary enemy- If there are imaginary friends, there are imaginary enemies too right?... One of my worst imaginary enemies was a purple party balloon (it doesn't excist anymore... at least as an enemy)

Now..that's new to me and very interesting...Maybe we have imaginary friend cause we're somekind of lonely; however, we may also have imaginary enemy cause of the same reason...

I'm not lonely- it's just that my imaginary friends represent different sides of me.

I know why I have that imaginary enemy though: Once when I was 6, I went to my cousin's birthday party. There was this beautiful purple balloon and I kept following it. Then I fell from the 2nd story balcony... I was ok after a few days, but I keep remembering following the balloon at random times... :D oh well- it's not my enemy anymore_we made a deal...sort of :)

I never had one, I used to make up little stories for myself, but the people were always different, like on my floor I was sitting on a rug, but it was a boat and I was lost at sea, I was an agent in another game, and I used to pretend that I was the only person alive on the Earth. My sister had one called Alice who had to get buckled up in the car everytime we went anywhere!

My imaginary friends stayed inside my head when we went somewhere.......that sounds crazy, doesn't it?

@SaintGermain- That is so cool!!!

I had a new friend every day unless i really liked the friend i'd stick with him/her for about a week till i changed them. my siblings used to catch me talking to the friend and thought i was crazy i stopped around 8 to 9 years old. oh yeah the white horse thing is pretty cool and creative.

Why give up on imaginary friends at such a young age?

My imaginary friend was a mark on my bedroom wall that looked like a bear resembling Elvis Presley...

It never occured to me to have an imaginary friend until I was 7-8 when I watched a movie on TV about a little boy with an imaginary friend. Having liked the idea, I tried to come up with one but I found it too much of a hard work and prefered the company of my real friends.

But if I had one, I think I would like it to be like someone like Harvey (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042546/), no doubt! :p

We had imaginary friends too when we were little - cats. Lots of cats. Cats of a great number.
But they are not here any more.
