World History Honors
Mr. Schnurr
Animal Farm Assignment
You should have all read George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm over the summer. The novel, presented as a fable, uses animals to comment on human society and nature. Animal Farm satirizes the events of the Russian Revolution and the years following, from 1917 to 1943.
Your assignment is to pick one of the historical figures of the Russian Revolution—Marx, Lenin, Stalin, or Trotsky—and write a research essay describing both his personal strengths and weaknesses and his role in the Russian Revolution. In addition to information on the life of the person you have chosen, your paper should also address how well Orwell's allegorical portrayal in Animal Farm supports their research. Do you think Orwell’s characterization was accurate? Use specific examples from the book that you think illustrate your point.
Your paper should be a minimum of 3 pages typed, using 12 point Times-Roman typeface, double-spaced with normal margins. It should also include a cover page with the following information: your name, date, class, and the title of your essay. Your paper should have a clear introductory paragraph, and also a conclusion. You will also be required to include a bibliography.
The paper will be due on ******OCT 6, 2005*******.
NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!
This is the project. Any help will be HELPFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! :flare: :(

Have you decided which Russian figure/animal farm character yet?
Once you've done that you can scan the book for specific examples of allegory.
You'll need some sources too, whether from the library, or you're allowed to use respected sources from the internet?
I realise you must be quite anxious about this. Your extensive use of eclamation marks makes me think you might expect a lot from members here. Often calls for help to do homework here go unanswered alltogether, just thought I'd mention that so you don't get disappointed, but good luck with your project :)

His father was Vissarion Jughashvili, and was a cobbler. Joseph grew up in a poor home, and was in a family of freed serfs. Joseph Stalin had acquired Socialist views at a young age. What is the topic of your essay? You need to develop your thesis in the first sentence, is it about Josef Stalin, or about symbolism in 1984. I think you should address this in the first paragraph, and then expound on your reasoning.
Napoleon symbolises (represents, inferrs...) as opposed to "plays". Were the other animals slaves? subjugates? or sbmissives?
Your sentence referring to Stalin's birth date is a fragment. You can remove the comma and add 'was' or remove "." and write into following sentence about parent i.e. Josef Stalin, born xxxx, grew up in a poor family of freed serfs. You can reduce your wordiness and excessive info.
Maybe I'll see some more in a while

It would be plagiarism if you use portions of the essay without noting. Saying something someone else wrote is your original writing. Its often very easy to spot, because of wording, vocabulary, and concise phrasing that would not be found in other parts of the writing.

Josef (Joseph) Stalin played a very important role in the Russian Revolution. Josef Stalin, born on December 18, 2005, was born into a family consisting of three dead brothers, his mother, a laundry woman, Ekaterina Geladze (Wikipedia), and his father, Vissarion Jughashvili, who was a cobbler. Josef grew up in a poor home, and was in a family of freed serfs and was neglected as a child by his father, who was possibly a drunk, adding to his anger in life. Josef Stalin was later accepted into a school called Tiflis Theological Seminary, where he eventually was expelled for a few reasons, and possibly even for reading a banned book. Although a large chunk of his life in jail and prison, he still managed to manage a Socialist Revolution.

Hold on, I'll try to find info about it.

Animal Farm & The Russian Revolution World History Honors Stephen White
Josef (Joseph) Stalin played a very important role in the Russian Revolution. Josef Stalin, born on December 18, 2005, was born into a family consisting of three dead brothers, his mother, a laundry woman, Ekaterina Geladze (Wikipedia), and his father, Vissarion Jughashvili, who was a cobbler. Josef grew up in a poor home, and was in a family of freed serfs and was neglected as a child by his father, who was possibly a drunk, adding to his anger in life. Josef Stalin was made fun of as a kid. He was given a tough edge as a child, because he had come in contact with the disease, smallpox, and was made fun of because the scars from the disease remained on his face, visibly, for the rest of his life. Josef Stalin was later accepted into a school called Tiflis Theological Seminary, where he eventually was expelled for a few reasons, and possibly even for reading a banned book. Although a large chunk of his life in jail and prison, he still managed to lead a Socialist Revolution.
Josef Stalin had acquired Socialist views at a young age. Socialism is a political system of communal (shared: used or owned by all members of a group or community) ownership: a political theory or system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the people and operated according to equity (fairness: actions, treatment of others, or a general condition characterized by justice, fairness, and impartiality) and fairness rather than market principles, and it also is a movement based on socialism: any of several political movements or theories of the 19th and 20th centuries based on principles of socialism, typically advocating an end to private property and the exploitation of workers, or stage between capitalism and communism: in Marxist theory, the stage after the proletarian (relating to the working class) revolution when a society is changing from capitalism to communism, marked by pay distributed according to work done rather than need (Definitions from-Microsoft Works Dictionary V. 2005). These are the beliefs of Josef Stalin. Josef Stalin was in jail half of the time.
Animal farm, a book written in the 1940’s ny George Orwell, is a satirist tale that has a hidden meaning, which is that the story is actually telling the story of the Russian Revolution. Had been born to poverty, had webbed feet (toes joined by skin flap), one arm shorter than the other, disfigured face (scars etc.)
Was kicked out of monestary. Was not liked by Lenin nor Trotsky
