I have a paper due in just a few days and I am having a lot of trouble with it. I need a little help with writing a comparative analysis on the declaration of independence and the "I have a dream speech" We are able to make comparisons or illustrate ideas from other documents. I have a few ideas jotted down but not nearly what I should have. I need help finding some comparisons between these two documents.

Also, any helpful suggestions on how I should write this paper? :(

A comparative analysis is a bit vague for my liking as to the basis for making comparison writing. Depending on what your comparing. The content? The ideas? The purpose of each, the historical context, the effect, and so on. What types of ideas would you like to illustrate? Or maybe all the above.
Decide on your perspective and what the point is you would like to say, maybe use an outline for Report Writing to for a starting point to form an outline.

One can draw many, many comparisons of any speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with almost any by Mahatma Mohandes K. Gandhi; both immensely proclaimed pacifism as a means to creating peace (rather than violence and war), both placed a high value on religion and spiritualism, and both even showed care to their enemies.
I apologize I cannot type a lot right now (at school), but I will try to report back later with information.

The comparison is between The declaration of independence and the I have a Dream Speech. I have an introductory but I dont know where to start the body of my paper. I am having a lot of trouble with starting an outline also. Here is what I came up with for my intro

In the past few hundred years we have came across many intrigueing domcuments which have defined the united states. Many of these documents did not affect our country like Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of independence and Martin Luther King's " I have A Dream" speech. Both of these documents have had a huge impact on american literatue. Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr. were both different by race, religion and era, but both had such controversial issues on the equality of man kind that forced them to write two of the most influential documents known to american history.


After this I am not sure how to start

I don't remember either in complete detail, but both have lists of desired goals and some of the goals are similar. Each also has a list of offences. If I were writing a comparison of the two, I would simply compare the lists. Here is one example of a parellel.

"This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed to the inalienable rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness." from MLK's speech

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." from the Declaration of Independence
