Someone commented on a friend's love for literature when they spoke at his memorial two months ago. It was beautiful and moving. They quoted something I cannot remember in it's entirety, no matter how hard I try.

The only part I can even remotely recall is:

Why ask why a life was cut so short? One might as well ask why a song ended when it did, though it could have continued on.

This is very important to me, and quite frankly I have exhausted every resource at my disposal to find it, short of calling his cousin to ask and I don't think it's at all appropriate. I would like to have this piece of literature, not just for it's beauty but because it meant so much to my friend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see no problem with contacting his cousin. It demonstrates your affection for your friend and is never to much to ask even of those grieving, much as yourself, a loss. It would probably be the easiest way, and I know how hard it is to find such lines without a source. Good luck.

Yes, I apologize, kel_Trina. Due to having such sentimental value, I searched around the Internet yesterday and today, and could not find the quote.
Could your cousin have read something translated into the English from another language, by some specific translator?

I suppose I should ask her for the information. Though I think I will wait a while first. Thank you for your help, and suggestions. I really appreciate it!
