i have to write about valentine, albert, and edward and how they pay for their father's sins. i understand how valentine does but not albert and edward. Can sum1 plz help me out?

ok ppl plz help me!!! The teacher says that in the book Valentine, Albert, and Edward end up paying for their father's sins. But I don't get how Albert paid for his father's sins or Edward. I read the abridged version so I think it must of gotten left out. So could someone explain that and what happened to Edward in the book?
