OK, I just re-read Life of Pi, by Yann Martel, and I just have to say that is one of the greatest books I have ever read, even more so if the actual storyline is true. I recommend it to anyone who can read. :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up

Borrowed a copy earlier this summer, had to give it back after half a day, but regret not finding another copy yet......it seemed very well written, and I REALLY want to finish it....thanks for the reminder

I agree, I think it is an amazing piece of work. I tried to read Martell's first book (the title escapes me now) but I was disapointed and never even bothered to finish it.

But yes, yay for Life Of Pi!

I like the spiritual side of this story, and I think the central point of the story is about faith and how it gives strenght to Pi in his (truly) hard times.

I have this sitting on my bedside table - and am dying to read it. Have a few others "on deck" before it - but still - glad to hear such positive things about it! I had previously read the first couple of pages and found it dry but I'm not about to abandon it just because of that!

I just read Beatrice and Virgil and I can't say I was impressed. Is Life of Pi more of the same, or in another league?

I think it's a good book, few silly parts that didn't really need to be in there but overall a worthy winner of the booker i think.

I have the book on cd. I will listen to it soon. And to think all this time, I thought it was the life of the geometrician who discovered the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
