Themis
09-03-2005, 07:55 PM
Good question. Err. In German it would be "Themis", in English though ... I have absolutely no idea, I must admit. Pronounce it however you like. *g*

Hehe... sory for you. but I like your company much. So please stay.
btw Themis you mentioned something somewhere about a Greek goddess being your nickname, which sort of rang a bell to me but not completely...and now came to my mind that there is a goddess called Arthemis if I'm not wrong, is that the same one maybe???
Hehe... sory for you. but I like your company much. So please stay.

Themis
09-03-2005, 08:00 PM
Nope, wrong track. *g* Nice try, though. "Themis" is the goddess of the law while Artemis would be the goddess ofthe hunt (and the light, moon, et cetera).
*grins* @Nightshade: No, I don't mind. *g*

Grinning. Or rather *grins* ;)
I think it's a sort of smilie... My German penfriend used it sometimes...before we lost touch forever of course... :D It took me a while to realise what it was though...
oh ok...it's a grin then...i thought it was like...the * * were meant to be the eyes... and g the nose and mouth... *g*...ok....:p
Themis
09-03-2005, 08:06 PM
I'll try to limit my usage of it. As not confuse anybody else ... not too many people anyway.

ehhem spelt the french way please LEila :D
BTW do you know the Quaays and leila story because Im not sure which one it is and no one I know will tell me aboout it
BTW for all those who know the english sng NO I was not named after it. Or after this particular layla either she just made the name famous is all
I dont know any songs with that name...uhm maybe the new Oasis one if I'm not wrong but then you couldnt be really named after that...
So that means night? Interesting... I should learn Arabic... but it must be really far from easy...

Ya I do. It's a story about a king who does not trust women and after sleaping with them he killes them in the morning. Till Laila comes and makes a deal with him that she will tell him averyday a story to entertain him and that he will not sleep her till she finishs them all. It goes nights and nights till it reached 1001 nights. It's called "Alf laila wa Laila" in Arabic, which means 1001 nights. In the 1001 night he decided not to kill her for that he finds out he really loves her and no more has that mistrust on women. What is intresting in this story it's not the story of 'Qaiss & Laila' itself but the 1001 stories that it includes.
anyway...i think i'll give up and go now...
wish me good luck that is not to have my father complain cos I'm being noisy cos I'll just go out of my room to the bathroom cos I really want to clean my poor teeth...
but yeah any movement after 11pm is considered noisy here...*sighs*
ah the 1001 nights is famous!
i forgot to say bye...goodnight all!!!
Themis
09-03-2005, 08:26 PM
@Koa:Good luck.
- I think I know the story, it's also called "The Book of One Thousand and One Nights", right? I read it (at least I think I did, but maybe someone read it to me) when I was child.
so how do you say goodnight in arabic btw??? :)
Nightshade
09-03-2005, 08:27 PM

adilyoussef
09-03-2005, 08:34 PM
In Moroccan dialect when sbd tells you 'laila saida' you usualy reply by 'alina wa alik'. but the 'a' is pronounced diferently like my name. It's a pharingal sound.

Saida means happy and some people name their doughters 'Saida'. It must be a name of a girl or a woman.
Nightshade
09-03-2005, 08:38 PM

Themis

Oh I see. It's difficult for me also to catch up with people speaking Arabic but are not from Morocco. Fos7a is very clear but the grammar is too difficult; keep circling around not like English direct to the point.
Too bad. I'll try looking for an explanation or perhaps a demonstration on the net ... later.
If you like you can help yourself by looking for linguistics. This is the field that may help you.
Themis
09-03-2005, 09:02 PM
