Here's another happy thought (at least for me ;))

"They didn't know that it was impossible, thus they did it." (Marc Twain, I think...)

Thanks again, Nightshade. You have certainly spread many, many smiles around the forum (and continue to all of the time), and surely make the forum into its brightest side. :)
I would also send many smiles, but, instead, I will post other things that make me smile:

And, of course --

(also worth seeing, yet too large to post: a fragment of a love letter from Robert Browning to Elizabeth Barrett-Browning -- http://www.cswnet.com/~erin/lpg4.jpg)

no you didnt...thankfully ;) but there are some good thoughts here... i just dont like happy thoughts too much, well they're ok now but they lead to optimism...and optimism leads to illusion...and so on... lol you don't want to know my philosophic theories (which I should have written down not to forget them...maybe i should do it before it's too late and I turn into a non-unhappy person ;) ;) ;) )

Science claims that our thoughts can manifest physiological affects. Happy thoughts assist in the release of endorphins (+ dopanmines) in our brains which in turn make us feel good. So, happy thoughts= happy thoughts=happy thoughts=happy thoughts......

:) Such a nice thread... made me smile, even in one of my worse days :)

If I ever find a positive thought, I'll post it... in the mean time... I'd keep my big pessimistic mouth shut in this thread ;)

Lovely. I agree, pretty much with everything everyone said here. .

I thought I'd just share two of my favourite quotes about happiness. . .

“There is no duty we so much underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.” Robert L. Stevenson. . . I didn't know about the second sentence...

Okay - and Hanh . . I was going to just post one, but here's a couple.

“If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.”

(same thought, slightly different expression)
“If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work.”

“Each moment is a chance for us to make peace with the world, to make peace possible for the world, to make happiness possible for the world.”

“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it. ”

Just some thoughts :) the Hanh quotes were all from here -
