I have to write a paper on Winston's and Julia's relationship. Can anyone tell me what i should say or where can i find an essay on the net?

If I were to write an essay on their relationship, I think I personally would focus on the fallout their relationship suffered when the Ministry of Love stepped in. That haunting song Winston hears throughout the novel is chilling. It reminds the reader of humanities instinct for self-preservation, just as the Devil challenges God and vilifies humans in the Bible book of Job 2:4. The song reads: "Under the spreading chestnut tree, I sold you and you sold me." It emphasizes the gravity and consequences of the couple's decision to sell each other out. They didn't escape suffering by being disloyal to each other. They were tortured anyway. And in the end, they were no better off than if their lives had ended; their bodies were broken and ridden with guilt. There was no more love between them, because as she tells Winston: "you try and tell yourself that you didn't mean it," "but at the time, you did mean it." "All you care about is yourself." "And afterward, you don't feel the same about the person any longer."
