View Full Version : Happy Birthday, simon!
I very seldom get to start happy birthday threads, living in the far Western hemisphere (where day begins when day ends on the other side of the International Date Line), but I feel honored to devote this thread to simon's birthday. To one of the most brilliant, and surprisingly youthful, minds on the forum, an intelligent wit, a very talented poet, but who does not visit the forum quite enough, I wish you a very happy birthday, simon. Wherever you remain now, and whatever you end up doing for this occasion, I hope you have a wonderful celebration.

I am utterly speechless. I suppose that is talent there to knock me in my proper place-- one of silence and retrospection and realization that perhaps kindness and contentment in others is more important than in oneself. Nanaa, what rubbish, better to be a prudish old man than a sap. But thanks anyways while I'm having this laps in mental state.

I'm going out on a limb here this this respone, trite and caustic somehow doesn't make for the best thank you so--aww shucks guys (imagine blushing loony toons).
Do any of you other 20-turners feel like this is the end of an era. I can't strickly be said to be unresponsible for any of my actions. Now I might really have to take the full brunt of life head-on, as in money dealings. I happen to be signing the papers on an apartment today and declaring a major. Suddenly I'm trapped.

Leaving those teenage, latter-adolescent years behind can seem quite a challenge, frightening, and worth thought. I remember when I turned 20 (roughly 3 years ago), and to place those confusing years of angst, anarchy, and silliness relieved and scared me simultaneously. Age, and its mysteriously placed expectations, can sound difficult, but so long as you remain you, making your own autonomous, self-reliant decisions, your sense of love, well-being, wisdom, and intelligence will only grow with that silly number placed on the times the earth orbits the sun.
A sense of feeling "trapped," I think, in another perspective, can also feel like a newly-discovered entry to where life awaits.

Hahaha!
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Soon you´ll reach middleage...

Are you saying that 19 is the best age of all :) ?
I always think it is.
Happy belated birthday, and though it doesn't matter at all, I was just little bit surprised when Fool wrote that you are a "she".
Oh I've been thinking for years that one should stop aging at 19... I mean, what's interesting after that???
A late happy birthday to you simon!!!
