my school is putting on much ado about nothing...i need some audition tips! we are doing cold read throughs. I have read the script and watched the movie! thank you!
Hello, mandy rose, welcome to the forums.
I remember, in high school, one of my groups of English classes staged A Midsummer Night's Dream, MacBeth, and Twelfth Night, though Much Ado About Nothing seemed one play I hoped to stage additionally, being one of the directors (not actors!).
For audition tips, if you know what dialogue you will get tested on, early memorization always looks good, along with decent pronunciation, and rich body language. Acting can seem surprisingly difficult, turning yourself into an entirely different person, but I encourage really getting to "know" each character; read lots of reviews, spark notes or cliff's notes, and really "put yourself in their shoes," so to speak, as Shakespeare himself would intend.
I wish you the best of luck!

a role with romance? well the obvious would be claudio who constantly talks in poetry - in fact there is only a breif point at the beginning when he talks in prose,
but personally, i think don pedro is a romantic. he tries to win over beatrice and woos hero. he also plays a big part in the deception scenes.

One big tip I can think of--don't stand there like you're reciting something. A side effect of thinking too hard about the next line is that the rest of your body ceases to do stuff--the random movements that make dialogue appear natural. So get the lines right, but not at the expense of the moment. Be mindful of the living force, young Padawan...
