I am moving off to college, and while the choice is not quite as dramatic as the title of this thread suggests, well, it still hurts.
I have room for about 5-7 books. I can't decide which ones to take.
any of you have worse choices?

Just enough room for Harry Potter collection, me thinks!
Wow, what an ethical dilemma, imthefoolonthehill. Do you already have several books you want to take, and must narrow them to 5-7, or do you ask for 5-7 good recommendations?

No, i don't want suggestions. suggestions from anyone but someone i know extremely well (and who knows me the same) would but add to my dilemma... i'm just 'sharing' my agony with you all.

Agony?? Agony is living in a dorm the size of a bathtub, and having nowhere to keep those seven cases of merlot/shiraz you've received as a good-luck-at-school gift!!!!!! The books??? Well, if you stack them vertically you can fit a lot more than seven on the back of the toilet.................if you HAVE a toilet...........

Congrat’s Fool, enjoy yourself. I know you will. Question everything, take your professors to task; make them work for their tenure protected salaries. Question everyone. Question yourself. You’ve got at least four years to slap the outside of the academic envelope so take advantage of it. Try not to spend it all in some dive bar on Guadalupe Street in Austin, Texas like I did.
Books? Don’t worryaboutit. They’ve got ‘em all there already. Just try to drop in here every once and a while to say howdy.
Bon Voyage!

I´ll just send my belated sympathies.
