There is this phone-spam company called Global Advantage (Prize Claim Center os some such crap) that tries to get people to buy timeshares. They tell you you've won a lexus or a tahoe or two other prizes (like a TV). They say you entered a free car form at a mall or something (which is untrue). They have other requirements. In order to win you and your spouse must be atleast 25, and make 40k a year. Who ever heard of stupid requirements like that for a contest? Well they're likely requirements to own a timeshares. Anyways they trick people into coming to listen to a 90 minute presentation on timeshares and then give them a cheapo TV (a car? ya right).

Its funny though because they do not have any of your personal information when they call you, they just make you think they do through cold reading etc.

So you can call this number: 877-256-7894 and make up a name, and they'll say "Yup, we have your entry form right here."

You can totally mess with these people. And you'll be taking a bite out of crime as they're breaking all sorts of federal regulations (including the donotcall list).

So, if you're in the US, take a few minutes out of your day and mess with some real scum.

another fun thing to do is to tell them that they shouldn't use the normal code phrases because the line might be tapped.

I do this all the time... it brightens my day conciderably...

I also love to ask them if they are wearing something weird, like a pickle costume or a space suit...

i also like to eat crunchy things into the phone, play music so loud we can barely hear each other and yell, "WHAT???"

I also have a little aerosol horn that i like to blow into the phone.

For surveys, i'll answer every question as long as they'll answer an equal number of questions...

"I'll answer your questions if you'll answer mine."

What's the derivitive of an arctangent?

What's the capital of Assyria?

What is the modern day name for the city of Byzantium?

they get one wrong, i threaten to hang up, they get two wrong, i do.

its rather amusing.

I find this (http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Eegbg/counterscript.html) to be a fun way to annoy them. It is a counterscript. I have had telemarketers hang up on me when I start to go through it.

One of the things anyone could do is to register as a DO NOT CALL with the FTC a cell or home telephone number. Anyone could call: 1-888-382-1222 and register as a DO NOT CALL with the FCC. Their web-site is: http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall/

If they call after you register (30 days later), you file a complaint and they pay a BIG fine.

I miss telemarketers, I haven't had one here... Four years without... I'm almost to the point where I think they don't really exist, just another conspiracy theory. I still remember them from my Uni days though. I really had fun with them.

wow how many great ideas... shame im just kind of shy and i only end up answering 'no thanks' and hang up... if i found the guts to do it I might try to speak in Russian or so... the coolest thing i've done once was simply to say that I was 13 years old so that i was too young for their survey... :D
