Dictionaries

I have been reading various dictionaries this summer and have found that my favorite dictionary, besides the Oxford English Dictionary of course, is the latest edition of Webster's New World dictionary. I find this book to be very informative and precise. When talking to my collegues, I have found that I am alone in my passion for this small, yet beautiful book. The majority of my collegues prefer the Oxford American Dictionary. Is this just a coinsidence?

I never used American English Dictionaries seriously in my life (OED, Collins and Longman are enough for me), but if I did, I would go for Webster's. Isn't it the biggest American dictionary? But I have never heard of the Webster's New World dictionary. What is so special that appeals to you in this "small, yet beautiful book"?

Good point Arteum. Perhaps you have a special place in your heart for your "Webster's." However, one must consider that all not all good things in this life are relevant to size. I find a certain charm in this "small yet beautiful boook." The way it fits in the palm of my hand, the way the leaves turn and the smell of the binding. Yes, one might say that I have a slight obsession with this dictionary, yet I have never felt so strongly about anything in my life, as I feel about this dictionary. It is hard to explain, yet some how I feel this is true.
