Happy birthday!!
I will sing the 'happy birthday'-song to you in Dutch (it has the same melody):
Fijne verjaardag voor jou, fijne verjaardag voor jou, fijne verjaardag, fijne verjaardag, fijne verjaardag voor jou.. (hmm, now that I have written it down, I am not sure it exists like this in Dutch.. or whether it is just my translation ;) Anyway :bday_2:

:bday_2:

Well, I will chime in and give you a dutch birthday song which is a bit different version I know from the one bianca wrote down.

Er is er een jarig, hoera, hoera
Dat kun je wel zien dat is zij!
Dat vinden wij allen zo prettig, ja, ja
En daar om zingen wij blij:
Zij leve lang, hoe ra, hoera
Zij leve lang, hoe ra, hoera
Zij leve lang, hoe ra, hoera
Zij leve lang, hoe ra!

Below is the correct version of Bianca's effort. (I looked it up in google, I would never have guessed it on my own :) )

Een fijne verjaardag voor jou
een fijne verjaardag voor jou
een fijne verjaardag, lieve Papayahed
een fijne verjaardag voor jou

hehehe, when having a cyber life you can have cyber pets as well ;)

papayahed
08-04-2005, 02:36 PM
I've been thinking of getting fish (real ones), perhaps I'll just get some cyber ones...

Jay
08-04-2005, 02:47 PM
Nah, fish might be a bit... boring ;) but real ones are better than cyber ones. If you don't know what to do with your time neopets might prove time-consuming if you get into it :p

AimusSage
08-04-2005, 02:54 PM
Nah, real fish aren't boring. They are very inspirational. Unless you have the generic gold fish in its bowl. A big aquarium with a lot of different tropical species is great. Don't just get all the prety ones, buy some functional fishes too! They help keep the aquarium clean. NEVER EVER GET SNAILS. When you buy water plants be very careful that there are no snails on the plant. They are horrible and quickly reproduce, overpopulation the aquarium. very difficult to get rid of.

08-05-2005, 09:32 AM
oh, that's what I was planning on, a cheap goldfish in an aquarium........

AimusSage
08-05-2005, 01:09 PM
Well, at least get two, so the they don't get lonely and start swimming in circles. :)

Jay
08-05-2005, 02:36 PM
If I had an aquarium I'm sure there wouldn't be fish in it. Ever seen an axolotl?

Papaya, it's not a fish, well, not a fish kinda fish. It's a salamander. axolotl wiki link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axolotl)
Aren't they cute? Way nicer than a fish.

Thanks Sancho, and right back at ya for being one of my favorite forum members. I still laugh about your story in which you had the neighborhood kids putting the umbrellas in the dog poop.

Jay
08-09-2005, 12:57 PM
Yep Papaya, they can be put in aquariums, if you read the wiki link I posted earlier you'd even find out what water temperature they need :p... if/WHEN ;) you have an axolotl... or two, could we see the piccies?
If you're interested I could find more 'we're having axolotls as pets 101' kinda info.

OK I admit it I looked at the picture and read a tiny bit on the axiolti!!!! I'm a little concerned that they may be high maintenance. My only experience is with goldfish, true I kept them alive for 2 years...but they were super easy. Perhaps I'll read up...

Jay
08-09-2005, 01:28 PM
Have a look for high-maintainance-y here (http://www.easyamphibians.co.uk/axolotl/)
*posted before reading the article*

housing axolotls (http://www.easyamphibians.co.uk/axolotl/housing-axolotl.html)
temperature (http://www.easyamphibians.co.uk/axolotl/axolotl-temperature.html)
feeding (http://www.easyamphibians.co.uk/axolotl/feeding-axolotl.html)
breeding (http://www.easyamphibians.co.uk/axolotl/breeding-axolotl.html)

site looks good indeed ;)

*edit no2*
"Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES)" now this might be a bit of a hitch

*another edit*
"Axolotl have quite a long life expectance if kept free from disease and in the correct conditions, you can expect them to live for between 8 and 14 years so they can be quite a long lived companion."
coool
me likey the site :D

*who wants another edit? :D*
"Axolotls are not fussy eaters, if it will fit in their wide mouth and go down their throat - they will eat it!" :D

ahem, back with one last (hopefully) edit:
"Unfortunately, axolotls don't mingle well with other fish species and generally need to be kept on their own. Most fish larger than the axolotl will suck or bite at their gills causing severe problems, while other fish that are smaller may be hunted down for lunch."

well, or not:

baddad
08-10-2005, 05:47 PM
Hmmmm....the commercially available versions of these salamanders are all descended from animals created in American laboratories. It is forbidden (protected species) to capture this species from the wild....

Again....Hmmmmm.....created in a lab......breathes air....has lungs.....does not NORMALLY leave its aquatic environment.......but it is a genetic mutant, a clone, and what happens if late at night it decides to sneak out of its little glass house and creep up beside your bed.........

papayahed
08-11-2005, 09:39 AM
You can come visit. IF I get one I'll even name it Jay. On the other hand Bad has me thinking now.....Do I want this mutant in my house? If it can creep up beside my bed, do you think I can train it to dust and vacuum?

Jay
08-11-2005, 11:02 AM
baddad:
Hey it was NOT created in lab as in... created, lol. It's the same thing you'd do to breed cats or horses or whatever animal, so now they got a bit more colours. I still think the albino are the cutest.

papaya:
Why the IF? :D They're not mutants, or at least I don't remember ever reading they'd be cloned. They're lab-atractive because of their regenerative skills, like growing new bits of brain/limbs/eyes and the likes.
I VERY doubt an animal breathing water-oxygene would be able to creep anywhere near your bed... well unless you sleep underwater ;)

Just thought I'd check where I invited myself into :D

Shorty, I guess once I get to visit Papya I'm going to do a lot more of visiting, how often do I get to visit the States again? So once I get to actually do the visiting I'll end up touring the buddies ;) *gives a meaningful wink to Philly and LA where I intend to stick for at least a few days*

I also SO need to tour the UK :p
