Mid-air
Palm fronds rustle in the breeze
Outside my bedroom window
A long full skirt billowing
Like Marilyn Monroe’s skirt
Mid-air revealing a glimpse
Of another world out there
Where the harsh dry ground
Waits for rain to wash it over
To revive the thirsty fronds
Dying before my eyes
