hi all, i was just wondering if anyone has read Katherine Mansfield's short story "Millie". i am doing research for an english internal assessment and this short story has me stuck! what i need to know is how is millie portrayed and how does it shape her role in the text and also, how does the context influence this portrayal? all i have said so far is that she is a lonely housewife and that the context influences this as it is set in rural New Zealand probably around the 1900s. but what i dont get about this short story is why she suddenly has a bloodthristy excitement to let the men hunt down the poor boy whom she had just cared for. is it becuase of the state that she is in - lonely and bored housewife - that she needs some excitement in her life hence the sudden change of character?
and also what is another way of saying 'talking to oneself'?
thanks
