Hi everyone...I'm going to start posting some of my poetry. Don't worry, I won't inundate you....right away ;) And don't be shy, I have very thick skin...if you hate it, and you wanna tell me you hate it, by all means, fire away! I can handle it...

Out'd
Then I was a dull boy,
With a sparkle masquerade,
Sleight of eye;
Binder'd.
'Til you, Divine Magician,
Re~made me giddy,
Bix re~dux.
A vibrating sine curve,
A string theory stirring,
O! You free'd me!
Strummed & humming,
Bright & Shiny,
Sinew new;
With winged heart, O!
Out'd from within me,
To soar above the rooftops,
Laughing!
Sparks & shards of laughter!
Glittering out,
A freeborn retro re~birth;
Main~frame baptised
In sparkling mirth.
Jaw~dropping, glittering;
Love's light twinkling
Like wet ice~cubes clinking,
Gleaming!
Shimmering!

How interesting and unique. I had to read it a few times, to allow some of the words to soak into my mind, but it reminds me much of the beat poets' era (which I hope you take as a compliment). I reminds me much of something Lawrence Ferlinghetti (one of my personal favorites), Allen Ginsberg, or Jack Keruoac would write; oddly enough, the style still seems relatively rare after the time of Charles Bukowski.
The poem itself has, in a way, a very magical quality - quite the re-creation of a mind, like a re-birth (but that may go too far), ameliorated by a lot of aesthetic word usage (always a plus).
Very nicely done, Bix. :)

Well done Bix. Your signature quote (Rumi) was overlayed on my mind as I read this poem and I couldn't help but notice the similarity. I take it the poet has arrived sagely and safely in the field?

Gee whiz, thanks you guys!
Mono...your comparisons are indeed flattering...<blush>...I love the Beat poets. Brilliant stuff...funny you should mention Ferlinghetti, & Bukowski. Over in the contemporary poets thread, I very recently posted a poem by each of them. What can be said about Larry Ferlinghetti? His work is incredible, he is an inspiration to me, and a personal hero of mine. Bukowski....the epitome of the tortured genius. He was misunderstood, imo...for instance, this nonsense about him hating women. Quite the contrary, he adored women...it was himself that he hated. The uninitiated tend to consider his work cold & callous, even vulgar, not I....I find his stuff quite moving, & strangely beautiful. I'd like to post more, but I don't want to violate the forum rules regarding posting items of an explicit sexual nature...too bad, cuz, as I'm sure you know, the gritty sexual references in his work are far from gratuitous....one might even argue that he uses sex metaphorically (in most cases).
Baddad...hello :wave: I do love that quote, however, I think it would be more accurate to state that the poet has arrived only safely in the field, rather than imply I've attained any degree of wisdom along the way sufficient that I be considered sage. ;)

Bix12: To have arrived at the field at any length is suffeciently sage......

More Beat by Bix
OLD FRIEND
Me, rough dawg rudely babblin',
Grimace set, hard scrabbled blinkin',
Jacked up, tacklin' a double-take,
As you sputter, smilin' now, you break.
You, belly quake'n, yeah shaking;
Your dangling bangs,
hanging, sliding slip stream,
Gliding off yer smooth buttery brow.
Your oft pondered head, atop alabaster,
Graceful arc of grace; tilts buttery back,
Gleam eyed, catbird crinkled sly,
Teary eyed, with a twinkling blink.
Like an old friend fondly recalled,
That outa nowhere appears;
So too sweet laughter appears,
Comes on easy, falls out damn easy;
Floats...
Wakes, shakes, comes untucked;
Curling out languid, like elegantly.
Floats in the tide pool
Of a breezy bar fan.
Then, old friend laugh starts down:
Goes a bird-dog meander,
Meanders across, dangles there,
Clear, near my rear-view ear.
Hangs...
Bobbin' there, like a punch clown return,
High-centered in the bar-fan breeze,
Like a metronome sweepin', keepin' beat,
Or maybe just a pourous cork;
Bobbin'...
Now, oh now you're howling out;
Squinty-eyed, old friend comes on,
Easy and clear, so free;
On a clear as glass straight path laugh.
Stumble-drunk, it sways, careens giddy
Slowly goes driftin' out, anchor free,
And Carries.....
And us, just grinnin';
Grinnin' god damn easy.
