Hello, I just discovered Online-Literature.com. I am a lifelong reader who is a member of a few other forums, mostly for video games, but this is my first time as a member of a literature forum. I'm glad to find a group of people who love books as much as I do.

Welcome ArcherSnake,
Hope you will love this forum just as much as I do! Ah, and a Stephen King-reader. You have a better stomach then I do ;-)) I think he is too good. I forget sleeping after reading something from him..

The wierd thing about reading him is that I'm not into horror at all. But I put up with it just to get into some of the deeper stuff behind it. He wrote a few books that didn't have many horror aspects, like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Body (Stand By Me). But I think his best is The Stand; it's my favorite book ever. It's about so much more than horror; it's actually about everything, in my opinion. I'm guessing they dont have a Stephen King board here? Lol, too bad.

I will put these books on my (ever-growing) list. Been meaning to get over my fear for horror and try his books again for a long time. I don't know the title but I once read a book of Stephen King about a man who ran himself to death. "The Marathon' I think it was called. In a selection of 'shorter' stories. It was fascinating.. and indeed about much more than the horror of it. But I had a hard time shaking of the images.. So I did not try any of his other books..

Has any one read Heart of Darkness, Dante's Inferno, or The Panda's Thumb if you have were they any good?

Heart Of Darkness was good in the end, though it took me really a lot of effort to understand it... but when I did, I definitely appreciated its depth. I don't know the others though.

I used to love reading King, although, to be truthful, after a time...he became a bit too formulatic for me. My favorite one's are 'Salem's Lot', 'The Stand', & 'Pet Semetary'....creeeeeeee-PY!

For the same reason that I don't read King anymore, I've stopped reading...oh dang it! Who's the other guy? You know who I mean...he's written a gazillion books in that genre...anyway, there is one of his that I still recommend...it's really good. It's called 'Out Of The Corner Of His Eye'...check it out.

If you wanna read an excellently written & super scary book, check out 'House Of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski. Just to give a little tease...this young family moves into a house out in the outer 'burbs...well, hubby had to measure the house up for some reason, and when he did...the oddest thing...the house on the inside was bigger than when he measured the house on the outside ! Not by much...but enough to be impossible...Whoa...then the fun begins. Hee Hee Hee....
