I remember the girl
With summertime blue in her eyes
Cherry blossom smile
And the sweet, sweet scent of her love
She moved into this life
Like sunlight shining through lime trees
In her shade a shelter
From the heat of shadowmaking.
To dance on strawberries,
Time was some forgotten fossil
When the warmth of her cheek
Made this heart expand like a cloud
Honeysuckle hedgerows
Fresh cut lawns beneath these bodies
Swallows dancing on air
Sea stretching over golden sand
Another midsummer
These lives still merging like currents,
As happy as the earth
In its purposeful destiny
My arm now around you
My thoughts now embrace my vision
And smiling becomes me
To think we are still what we are.
With summertime blue in her eyes
Cherry blossom smile
And the sweet, sweet scent of her love
She moved into this life
Like sunlight shining through lime trees
In her shade a shelter
From the heat of shadowmaking.
To dance on strawberries,
Time was some forgotten fossil
When the warmth of her cheek
Made this heart expand like a cloud
Honeysuckle hedgerows
Fresh cut lawns beneath these bodies
Swallows dancing on air
Sea stretching over golden sand
Another midsummer
These lives still merging like currents,
As happy as the earth
In its purposeful destiny
My arm now around you
My thoughts now embrace my vision
And smiling becomes me
To think we are still what we are.
