I just read an interesting article posing the idea that Sherlock Holmes could have been considered a person with autism. Are there any other fictional characters you can think of that could have some disability? I'm better versed in classic lit than modern.

Hello JaneC welcome to the forums!
The character Philip Carey, in Somerset Maugham's Of Human Bondage is born with a club foot. While he had an operation on it as a child, it was still quite an `issue' for him throughout his life. :)

The boy from "the curious incedent of the dog in night time" he was autistic
Also "One flew over the cuckoos nest" has quite a few I belive!
The easiest that comes to mind: "Lennie" in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, Nightshade mentioned the numerous characters in Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and "Jack" of Stephen King's The Shining.
Most will probably come to my memory soon, but I can only think of these characters presently.
Good luck!
