First of all, has anyone read The Wife of Martin Guerre?? I have read it as part of my literature course. Apparently it is supposed to be a classic. Having never heard of it previously, I am unsure whether or not this exactly true. What does everyone else think of it, that is of course, if you have read it or not. I am interested in seeing other people's opinions of it of the novel and the issues it raises

Hello lil_fairyjess welcome to the forums!
I found an interesting review of this story
here (http://www.education.theage.com.au/pagedetail.asp?intpageid=1121&strsection=students&intsectionid=3)
As Saltau says, sounds like this is one of those `timeless' stories that are applicable to any age, which may lend itself to being very popular and possibly a `classic' someday.
I don't think I've actually read any Aussie fiction, I'm going to add this one to my list :)
