Welcome to the forum. I haven't read Monica Dickens for ages, but One Pair of Hands is brilliant, really entertaining and funny. I have other books of hers on my bookshelf, The Angel in the Corner, My Turn to Make Tea and The Happy Prisoner. It's a pity that they can't be included here because of copyright. I wonder if they are still in print because my versions are inherited and really old.

Just out of curiosity, where can you usually find the copyright dates on books? Does it often depend on the publisher(s)?

The Monica Dickens books that I have are ancient. The Happy Prisoner is dated 1948 from The Book Club. My Turn to Make Tea is also from The Book Club but bears no date. The Angel on the Corner is from The Companion Book club in 1957, but has an inscription saying that it is published by arrangement with the original publishers Michael Joseph Ltd. The First two books are from Foyles New and Second Hand Book Shop 119-112 Charing Cross Road, London. Wasn't this the title of a true love story that was made into a film? I have 'One Pair of Hands' (I keep saying so anyway but no one seems to believe me round here!) but not here right now.
