Today is the day a killing changed British literature dramatically.
A great bard died.

In 1593 on May 30, Christopher Marlowe was killed in a bar fight over his bill.

He was one of the most famous playwrights of his age and with his death leaft unfinished work, later lost. It is also thought that he had much influence on Shakespeare.

This is also the day Joan of Arc was burned, in 1431 in France for not denying her faith.

Ah, I would easily consider this a turning point in literature. Thanks for the information and links, Helga.
How I would love to visit both graves . . . *sigh, someday, along with many others in typically Eastern America, England, France, Russia, and Italy.
